Family Fun

Up Up & Away

September 19, 2012

On this early Saturday morning, I was transported back to my childhood, waking up and running immediately into my parent’s bathroom. I’d climb into Mom’s bathtub, push aside the potted plants that rested on the basin’s edge, to get a clear view through the double windows. Against the blue mountains, dozens of brightly colored hot air balloons would fill the sky. I’d sit there in Dad’s tshirt (preferred summer PJ’s) admiring each one with my older sister. Of course, we’d find ourselves talking about which were our favorites and which one we’d want to ride in. To this day, I can still remember one that was shaped like a shopping cart! We thought that must be transporting someone SUPER special! ha!

Now we’re both grown with children of our own. Who knows… maybe one day they’ll be looking back on this special morning too.

This post gave me goose bumps and a smile on my face! Childhood memories are precious and then sharing it with your own family! Your mom is a beautiful 🙂

P.s. did your husby take the last pic, what an eye 🙂

Oh this is such a cute thing to do as a family! Years ago when my family and I lived in the country, we had 19 acres. A guy in a van came to our door and asked if he could land his balloon in our yard. All of the sudden, we looked over and this balloon was just coming over the trees! It was so cool as a kid to get to watch! Will always remember it!

The funny part about childhood memories… Sometimes they still scare the living daylight out of you. St. Louis had a ton of them and I can still remember the noise and running inside. I think I thought it would land on me and I’d get squished! Typical me!
