SeaWorld

May 12, 2014

I hope everyone had a lovely Mother’s Day. Ours was simple and sweet. But before I get ahead of myself, I wanted to share with you our most recent visit to SeaWorld, Orlando. I was two, when I visited for the first time — and I can still remember holding starfish and eating frozen whale bars. Now that I have little ones of my own, it’s so fun to see them enjoy it as much as I did.

Feed me another salty sardine, please!

If I’m not mistaken, Shamu is right around the corner, past the Shark reef!

We could’ve stayed here for the rest of the afternoon just watching the majestic whales play together. One came right up to the glass and stopped and stared at the boys. My favorite was the baby calf that hugged her mother wherever she swam.

Taking a rest break for classic Shamu ice-cream bars.

Ryan trying to convince Beck to share a bite or two with him.

Alright people, back to business. Next stop — the sting rays (also known as ‘sting rings’ if your name is Gage). And another round of sardines, for feeding.

Mama, they feel so slipperly! But don’t worry, they don’t hurt us.

My eye marks the exit. Time to go! It’s been a real splash! Adieu, Shamu!

The boys sunnies are their new favorite accessory, Babiators — safe, won’t break (and if they do, they’ll replace them), and fit little faces like a glove!

Sea world is the best! I’ve only been to the one in San Diego but I’m sure it’s fun no matter what! Your boys are adorable and can’t belive they are both getting so big! Hope you had a beautiful Mother’s Day!

What adorable photos and a great way to spend Mother’s Day! Looks a lot of fun. I have only been to the San Diego one and hoping to take our daughter to the San Antonio one this summer.

The sunglasses are from Babiators. There’s a link at the bottom of the post!

Even at age 10 Sea World was my favorite on my first trip to Orlando… years later in my 20’s it was no different. I am almost positive if I went back tomorrow, I’d say the same. I often think about the years I wanted to be a marine biologist in order to work there vs. the graphic designer I’ve become, but I guess it was more practical to be a woman as a designer who wants to be a mom than a whale chaser as my father calls them 😉

Lovely photos, and what looks like a great time, and I hope you soaked up all the fun for Mother’s Day too!

Great pictures and adorable boys, as usual! One comment though, have you not seen the movie Blackfish? Should probably take a look before heading to another aquarium.
    Thanks!

I live only an hour away from SeaWorld! We had passes there last year and we went there almost every weekend. Sometimes we’d just go for the afternoon! It’s really the best place. Not as overwhelming as Disney, so it’s perfect for kiddies or a relaxing day with family! The roller coasters are pretty fun. Did you go on Manta? It’s seriously the best ride. I love petting the sting rays and dolphins. When the boys are older, you will have to take them to Discovery Cove. It’s a bit pricey but it’s soooo worth it. You feel like your at a private park all day and the day is made complete when you get to ride the dolphins. I can’t get over how adorable your family is! Those popsicles look delish too!

Beautiful photos, but I agree with Britt’s comment above. Please see the movie Blackfish or do a little research about orcas in captivity.

Okay, 2 things! First….it looks as though you just cut baby Beck’s hair. So sad. He’s growing up and now has big boy hair! 🙁 My baby will be 2 in August, and I’ve been holding off on cutting it, since the texture changes when you do. My baby looks hilarious with all his wispy blonde hair, but I can’t bring myself to cut it just yet! I want him to be a baby forever!!! Second, where did you get your jeans?! In love! Great idea to fold them up with the slits….SO CUTE! Best style ever Missy! xo Amber

Love the pictures! Can you please do another 12 Hours post? Adorable series:)

I just watched Blackfish last night on Netflix. Please please check it out. The movie really opened by eyes. (on another note, I love your blog. I look forward to checking it each and every morning! You have a beautiful family!)

Yes watch Blackfish and The Cove! You will feel very differently about going to places like sea world, or swimming with captive dolphins! We have to punish places like sea world, by not going to them. They only rereleases manatee’s because they can’t be trained, any dolphins or whales are stuck there forever! Saddest thing ever!
