Mother’s Day + A Letter

May 15, 2012

Mother’s Day was absolutely perfect. Simple and sweet. Just how it should be. Saturday, Husby surprised me with french toast (He even followed a recipe which made his effort even more adorable). We spent the whole day together, which of course included a round of putting countless golf balls. Sunday morning I was surprised to find this precious watering can planter and sweet little card. Tears. LOTS of tears. Nothing better than feeling appreciated, loved, and cherished on Mother’s Day by the two boys I love most.

Which leads me to…

Something I’ve been wanting to do for some time now.

(deep breaths)

Here it goes…

My Littlest Buddy,

I don’t know how to say how my heart feels right now. You’re sound asleep but I can still feel your tiny fingers gripping around my neck from our bedtime hug. We LOVE our hugs, don’t we? Your nuzzles and little love pats on my shoulders make me feel like the luckiest girl in the world to be your Mama. You’ve taught me more about love in the past two years than I’ve known in all the years I’ve lived. It’s been an emotional adventure that has been shared solely by you and I. Just me and you. Doing our thing with an abundance of smiles and indescribable joy. And I can tell you with every bit of my heart, I’ve savored every.single.minute. Today, will be a different day than most. You see, we’ll invite a new friend to share our adventure with. Your brother. And undoubtedly a new best friend that you’ll have for life and beyond. That thought excites my heart and it makes me kinda sad at the same time. Not a real sad, but just a realization that it’s going to be different from here on out. But you know what? I KNOW you’re going to be the best big brother any brother could ever ask for. And for that, I can’t tell you how excited I am for this next chapter. I’m excited for you to teach him how to play in the bubbles during bath time, try new foods (even if it’s just one bite), cheer and clap when we accomplish hard things, how to love LuLu without hurting her, and most importantly, how to be a good example. Gage, you’ve made Dada and I so proud to be your parents. You’re our sunshine. Know that you’ll always be my favorite because no one else can ever be you or take your place. I know it’s possible to have three favorites because both you and Daddy have found a way to occupy my heart equally. I simply adore you, son.

The best is still ahead. So happy you’re alongside me for our new journey, pal.

I love you to the stars,
xo Mama
