Do The Write Thing

November 18, 2011

Monday nights are held in reserve for our family. It’s so eloquently termed our Family Night. We always have some sort of life lesson and then an activity and maybe even a dessert at the end. This past Monday we learned about gratitude. For our activity we made homemade stationary to write gratitude notes to our families. I wrote one to Ryan’s parents and likewise he to mine. Gage assisted in playing with ink pads & losing the tops off of pens and markers. We even snuck in an early Christmas story just because.

Family. Doesn’t get much better than spending time together.

Happy Weekend, Friendlies.

Feeling the Friday urge to splurge? Francesca’s Collections filled me in on a little secret. Today they’re launching their mobile website (meaning you can access their goodies from any smart phone/device). In celebration, they’re offering 20% off (today only). Go to francescascollections.com using your mobile device to get the coupon code. The code can be used on your computer but can only be retrieved from your mobile device. Just thought I’d share the good news.

I’m in LOVE with those envelopes! What a neat way to fancify some plain, ol’ envelopes. These photos of your family are pretty darn sweet too 🙂

Isn’t it easy? Word of warning… Just be careful not to get paper cuts.

Ahhhhhh! Great post, but most of all I love that you have that book! We have an Elf, with the book…he returns every year on the day after Thanksgiving and spends the month reporting back to Santa and moving around the house when he returns so that Tori has to find him each morning! It’s the greatest little tradition and we love reading the story every year and the month we get to spend looking for where he is sitting and watching for good deeds to report back to the man in red =)

Gage doesn’t quite get the concept but we try to do the big kid things for our enjoyment! ha!

Now to choose a name for him…

Sunday was always our family day when I still lived at home. We would always do something fun! Even though it was sometimes annoying that I couldn’t hang out with my friends, I think our family life was better for it. We are all still so close 🙂

I totally agree. Setting aside for time specifically devoted to family is so important. Some of my most memorable moments growing up were during family nights.

Family Night is a great idea. It all looks so ordered and smooth-running, I’m impressed! I love that easy stationery trick, thanks for that – such a simple yet beautiful way to make some unique stationery!

      Of course, sweetie.

Cute! I’ve actually done that before and it’s a super easy way to spice up a plain white card. I got into the whole rubber-stamping thing several years ago, but the interest kind of turned to other projects and creative hobbies in recent years, but I still have all those ink pads and stamps! hmm.. I spose I should see if they still work. 🙂 Have a good weekend Missy!

Hi Missy, your site is adorable! This was a super cute post and I thought you might also like to read a article we did on teaching children about gratitude called “Having an Attitude of Gratitude.” Happy Thanksgiving!
