Falsies

August 17, 2011

Everything is better real (unless you’re talking nightmares). False lashes are often found in the “ok to be fake” category because of their glamour.

But they bug me. The glue, the itchy, the getting them on without poking an eye out dilemna. A messy situation, if you ask me. But get this! You can make the real look fake! Whaaat?! I know, right. Quite the contradiction… Tee hee!

For those of you’s who give it a go… blog your results with photos and then link up in the comment section! I’d love to see some luscious lash-batting (yes, a new word) action going on.

You’re right, that would take a long time! I don’t know if I would have the patience haha. Also, I would’ve loved to have seen a front shot of you with both eyes because we couldn’t see the whole impact from the side. Great tutorial!

P.S. I’m with ya on the way you get ready. Make-up first, hair, clothes. 🙂

Front shot wasn’t happening this am. Sorry, love. Try it for a date night or special occasion. I felt like a 20’s flapper just batting my lashes all night long. Husby kept asking if I had something in my eye. “Nope! Just you sweets. Do my eyes look pretty?”

  • Gentri August 17, 2011 at 3:09 pm

Love this! Thanks for the tips!! 😀

    • missy August 18, 2011 at 12:58 pm

You’ll TOTALLY be able to rock this. Before/after pics and pronto! chop chop

  • Kehly August 17, 2011 at 3:28 pm

Great tutorial! I do this all the time and really do go through mascara freaky fast. One thing I like to do is wait about an hour after I’ve applied the mascara (so that it’s all the way dry) and crimp my lashes with the eyelash curler one last time. It makes such a difference! I’ve been doing that for years and never had a problem with breakage or anything. Try it out!

    • missy August 18, 2011 at 12:58 pm

Eeek! Yes to a final crimpage at the end. GENIUS! Why didn’t I think of that. Thank you! xo

Um, holy gorgeous eyelashes, lady! You’ve inspired me to try this tomorrow. Who says mamas can’t be glam at playdates?! 😉

    • missy August 18, 2011 at 12:59 pm

Dude, you’ll have those mamas asking if you got extensions! before/after pics? YES!!? Have fun at you play date… wish we could be there too!

  • Polly (mom) August 17, 2011 at 8:25 pm

Oh my goodness–you are right , I’m saying it……TARANCHULA eyes!! Sorry you got the shorties from your momma. Is that how you spell those scarry eight-leggers?

Ma, I wouldn’t trade my stubs for being your daughter! I embrace them by goobering them up. Bahaha! You’re hilarious!!

  • Blaire August 17, 2011 at 9:13 pm

Love this tutorial! Will definitely be trying this in the future. Just need to master the cat eye from that tutorial.

I usually do my hair and then my makeup cause I get so hot while doing my hair I get too sweaty!

    Thanks for these great tips!

    • missy August 18, 2011 at 1:01 pm

So I stumbled on your site while playing on pinterest and decided to check out your tutorials. Thought I would tell you my incredible find for super lashes that takes about one minute to do. YSL has a mascara (I know, not cheap, but it is worth EVERY cent) and it is called Volume effet faux cils. One or two coats just for every day and maybe 4-5 for special nights out and you will have glam lashes!! 🙂

Thanks so much for posting this! I have painfully short eyelashes myself, so I usually end up using false ones for things like family pictures, those rare dates with the hubs, etc., but now I’m going to have to try this technique. I would have never thought about using two different kinds of mascara.
I found you through Pinterest & think your blog is great! I’m a mom of 2 myself, & applaud your dedication to keeping your blog current (I have tried (& failed) to blog multiple times). Bookmarking yours for future reads! 🙂

I love this. I wear fake eyelashes everyday and I have been doing this for about four years. It actually is not as hard as people think but I love this as an alternative! Since I normally have a massive amount of mascara on, I use baby oil to remove all makeup. Its gentle on the eyes, does not burn and removes all makeup (including waterproof) with a quick swipe!!

I have super straight lashes that aren’t very long. My favorite trick for longer, curlier, lasting lashes is to give your eyelash curler a quick blast of hot air with the blow dryer before crimping lashes. Give it a quick touch to make sure it’s not to hot (you don’t want to burn your eyelid) then crimp at the base of your lashes, then middle, then tips. It makes measly lashes look great!

I also found your blog through pinterest and love it. I’ve been on for at least an hour now catching up on all your fun posts!

try a coat or two on the back side of your lashes, either before your first coat on the front or right after. it gives it some height and staying power.

  • Courtney September 16, 2012 at 5:36 am

Love this tutorial! Ilike to blow dry my eyelash curler before I use it so its warm kinda like your curling your hair and they stay curled longer! I have blonde eyelashes also so mascara is a must even if I have no makeup on!
