Apples ‘Round The Clock

October 2, 2012

They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away… In our case the doctor shouldn’t be needed until next YEAR!

We’ve had our fair share of eating apples around here. Pretty sure my right knee turned into one last night, in my dreams.

After a week of eating apples in every possible way imaginable, we’re down to our last few.

Guess good plain ‘ole peanut butter and apple slices will just have to do.

Disclosure: No. We didn’t eat all of the above in a 24 hour period. Guess you could. But that might be a tad excessive (and that’s coming from one who decided to put 6 apple recipes in one post!)

Apple Maple Compote Recipe
Starting our day with waffles, no less. Could’ve chose pancakes to switch it up a bit; but who can argue with waffle’s crannies that beg to house ooey-gooey apple syrup? I might add, if you’re a porker (I mean, enjoy bacon) go ahead and serve some with this meal. Ever heard of porkchops and applesauce? This is breakfast’s take on the classic. And it’s eye-rolling delicious.

Apple Butter Recipe
Mid-morning snack? Apple butter on biscuits, it is! I may even contemplate making more, just so I can hear Bubba say it over and over, “Papple Bubber.” Next best thing to hearing “Love you, Mama.” Absolutely adorable.

Turkey Cranapple Panini Recipe
Easy way to get rid of more apples? Stuff them in sandwiches. Haven’t ever tried it? Yeah me neither. Until now. That goes without saying they’ll be a regular condiment in the future! Something about the added crunch and sweetness pairs really well with the salty turkey, tangy cranberry, and savory cheese. Can you say, perfect for Thanksgiving leftovers? Mmm…M!

Caramel Apple Cupcake Recipe
Dessert after lunch? Is that even a question? Of course, cupcakes will do. But we’re talking everything apple! So mix in some caramel and call it a day. This recipe can easily be changed into a light muffin by eliminating the heath bits (sad) and cream cheese icing (even sadder). Might I suggest slathering on the apple butter if you go the muffin route? Tee hee!

Apple Chips Recipe
Around 4:00 the bag of plain potato chips seems to yell for my attention. While apples aren’t my idea of potatoes, they do manage to shut those spuds right up (even if it’s for just a moment or two). Even better, little mister thinks apples as chips just might name him the coolest kid on the block. It’s his latest fad when strolling the streets on our afternoon walk. Crunchy munch!

Apple Crisp Pie Recipe
And of course, apple pie just HAD to be included. Never been a huge fan for warm pies (I’m more of a summer berry or peach pie kind of gal). But apple crisp? That’s a whole different deal. LOVE the crunchy buttery yumminess that melts vanilla ice-cream just right. So instead of getting into it with Husby about which is better (pie or crisp), I combined the two. Safe to say, I now like pie. Apple pie. With layers of crunchy crisp, mixed throughout. Is it dinner time yet? Let’s just skip to dessert.

And that’s an apple wrap!

Can you clairfy what to do with the applesauce in the cupcake recipe? Do you mix it with the yogurt mixture?

    • missy October 3, 2012 at 12:45 am

Yes, you’re correct. Mix with the other wet ingredients. Sorry if this wasn’t clear. Oopsie.
