Tiny Town

September 18, 2014

Little mountain towns are so fun to explore — partly because of the beautiful scenic drives getting there. Temperatures are always cooler and the charm factor is always bumped up several notches. One morning a few weeks back, we ventured to Tiny Town — exactly that, everything itty-bitty and tiny… with over 150 miniature buildings of famous Colorado landmarks. Oh and the mini train is quite fun too, complete with conductor who paper punches little trains into tickets upon boarding.

Peeking into what’s being sold at the grocery store. Sprinkled donuts, apparently.

My giants taking a little rest on the front porch of a cottage.

It only makes sense to have the cutest conductor leading the cutest little train.

Some of the houses are big enough to go inside and play. They suggested we eat lunch inside this one.

All tickets punched and ready for boarding.

After our visit to Tiny Town, we took a short drive to Morrison for lunch.

We ate at The Blue Cow, right alongside the Colorado River.

Apparently they’re known for their Sante Fe grilled cheese — roasted green chiles, bacon, and tomato on sour dough. The homemade onion rings were finger-licking delicious. I’m ready to go back tomorrow.

And to top it all off, a drippy cream cone from the walk-up counter outside. Colorado, you’ve been good to us, so far. And your little day-trip adventures sure make being a boys Mama a little more entertaining.

What an awesome spot to take the little ones! One I’m sure they will be asking to go back to again. That grilled cheese has my mouth watering!

This is the cutest little thing I’ve ever seen! (Next to your boys of course). What a fun day trip! The conductors ‘stache is on point, literally.

    Adorable!!

May I ask how you get the foreground focused and the background blurry? Is it a setting on your camera or do you do that afterwards in Photoshop?

We were there this summer for the first time! So much fun peering in the little windows of all those tiny buildings.

It’s actually the Bear Creek River, not the Colorado. Cute post though.
