Ring In the New Year

January 2, 2013

Spoiler alert!!! If your name is Husby and you’re reading this, stop. right. now.  I’m about to talk you up BIG time.

You see that tulle skirt? Yeah… he picked it out, wrapped it up with duct tape (apparently he couldn’t find the scotch), and gave it to me for Christmas… intended to wear on this night, New Years Eve. Who does that? He does. Because he’s cute like that.

Outfit Details:

Marilyn Glitter Pumps – c/o Sole Society, Skirt – Anthropologie, Cardigan – Gap (old), Bib Collar – HM (similar HERE), Lace Cocktail Ring – F21, Lipstick – Sonja Kashuk in Plum Wine

You’re right! Little did I REALLY know what I was getting when I married him. We knew each other well but he’s continued to surprise me over the years of how big his heart really is. I’m so grateful.

Luuv This.. i do have to say your man has great taste!!This is such a romantique Audrey Hepburn classic style outfit!!Can u tell me what size your skirt is & how it runs?is the Gap cardigan cashmere with rhinestone buttons or pearl buttons? How many buttons does it have?Woot woot u did it again… great post Missy!!Cheers to a Happy healthy blessed new year:)

    • missy January 4, 2013 at 2:16 pm

It runs a bit small, surprisingly. I normally wear a 0-2 and he bought a 4 because it was the last one they had. Surprisingly it fit. But then again, I don’t have much of a waist and I also tucked the sweater in. The sweater is cashmere with rhinestone buttons. Thanks, Lilly!

  • Alisa January 2, 2013 at 9:17 pm

I IMMEDIATELY ran to Anthropoligie and bought the skirt. I love it!!! You look beautiful! Happy New Year.

    • missy January 4, 2013 at 2:17 pm

I hope you find it just a beautiful!

  • Taryn January 3, 2013 at 2:59 am

You two are adorable!!! I just love following your beautiful family!!! Can you please do a tutorial on your photography!!!!! I just love all of your pictures!!!!!!

    • missy January 4, 2013 at 2:20 pm

Haha!!! You are SO kind! I laugh because honestly the tutorial would go a little something like this: put it on this setting, play around here, try this, goof around with that… oh wait! I think I stumbled upon a setting that works! I am NO pro. I used a high iso – 1000 with a low aperture 2.0 (I believe) and then played around with the shutter speed on manual until it was light enough. Really, I ought to take some photography classes so I technically know what I’m doing! ha!

Husby just read this comment and concurs! Coming to a Valentine’s Day post near you! 😉

    • Leigh January 4, 2013 at 5:06 pm

      Oh yay!

  • Anna @ The Guiltless Life January 3, 2013 at 8:14 pm

Nice hubby! I love your unique style – looks like such a fun NYE. Were you back in time for the countdown with your kiddiewinks! When I turned 10 was actually the first year I was able to stay awake long enough to see in the new year lol!

  • Leigh January 4, 2013 at 2:10 am

I love the tulle skirt! Did your husband pick it out without any pointers?! Either way it’s impressive! The sparkling heels are a perfect pair 🙂
Do you have tips for night style photography! This is the second time your night photos look great and non-blurry! (The other time were your Vegas photos!) Please share any pointers!

    • missy January 4, 2013 at 2:24 pm

Surprisingly, he’s THAT good. He saw it in the storefront window and said it looked like me. I responded to a comment earlier on the night photography. Amateur at best but there are a few basics I think I understand. high iso – 1000, low aperture 2.2, and fiddling around with shutter speed on manual until it looks light enough.

  • Meg Perry January 4, 2013 at 4:20 am

Do you have photographers follow you two?

    • missy January 4, 2013 at 2:26 pm

I only wish!! If Brandy Cardarelli Photography takes pictures, it’s always listed in the post. Maybe we can come up with a plan to convince her to follow me around?! 😉

  • Taryn January 4, 2013 at 3:53 pm

Haha!!!! That’s exactly what I do but yours always look amazing!!!!!!! Thank u so much for giving me hope that I’ll eventually get the right settings!!!!! Haha

  • Sarah January 4, 2013 at 11:11 pm
