Puppy Peanut Butter Cups

May 8, 2013

Every now and again, LuLu and I like to go to a boutique for dogs – just for “old times” sake. You know… before BOYS took over everything. Her favorite part is getting a goodie from the bakery case. The last time we went, she tried the cute little puppy peanut butter cups!

So cute and simple that we just HAD to duplicate them at home!

The extras store well in the fridge or even longer in the freezer. Better yet, share them with the other hounds in your ‘hood.

  • DIRECTIONS: fill squeeze bottles with melted carob and/or yogurt chips. line the sides and bottom of  mini candy cups. transfer to the fridge to set (~5 min). use natural creamy pb to fill the cup halfway full. cover with more carob/yogurt. lightly tap the bottom of the candy against the counter to smooth the top. return to fridge to set (~5 min). apply paw print design.

Love this! Can you find carob and/or yogurt chips at any regular grocery store?

I can’t seem to melt the carob chips without having them turn into a dried up clump. Is there a secret for melting?

I’m throwing a little puppy birthday party for my pups and their six cousins (what people like me do when they don’t have children yet) and these will be perfect! Thanks for the idea!

You can find both carob and yogurt chips at any Bulk Barn. Carob is a type of chocolate that is pure and not harmful to dogs 🙂

I would like to make these and ship to friends in Canada. Would these adorable PB Cups travel well? Do they tend to melt?

Carob is a legume. We eat the seed from the pod. It’s a safe alternative to chocolate for dogs and a nutritional powerhouse filled with vital nutrients to promote your dog’s healthy bones, teeth, eyes and coat. It’s also rich in fiber and pectin which helps eliminate toxins from the body.

Are the carob chips supposed to be sweetened or unsweetened? Or does it not matter
