Snowflake Bark

December 15, 2011

Treats make me happy. Treats that are also cute? Those kind make me even happier. As a bonus, they’re as easy as melting chocolate.

I spotted these silicone gems (the molds, not the treats… you guys) in the dollar section of Target. They screamed, I’m perfect for making cute peppermint bark. And at that price, I wasn’t about to argue.

As a precaution in reviewing the recipe below… I failed to explain 1/2 teaspoon of peppermint extract was used for making a ginormo batch. The safer amount? A few drops at a time and then taste with a spoon (or in my case, my whole face, along with my fresh fruit sidekicks. Errr, I may have forgotten I was making gifts).

So I tried these… Didn’t end up as pretty as yours… Although my two year old was helping… So looking back, that might have been the problem… But I want to try again- how did you get the lines of the dark and white chocolate so even???

where do you buy a large quantity of Gheardelli chocolate?

  • Margot Nowicke December 22, 2016 at 6:45 pm

Help me! This was an epic fail for me. The dark chocolate was a breeze – even with the mint flavoring added. BUT the white chocolate was awful. It went straight from not melted at all (I stirred to the very bottom and did 30 second spurts at 30% power). I did manage to get it loosened up again but it turned yellow and was so warm that it melted the layer underneath. It’s all going straight into the garbage! So I could use some tips on melting the white chocolate.

The white chocolate – after a minute I did 10 second spurts.
