Love the awesome pictures, and all the cheap date ideas are great too! Taking time to be together as a couple is SO important, especially when you have kidlets.

    • missy August 5, 2011 at 3:26 pm

So important yet so hard to do sometimes! I bet Victor could whip up a pretty sick for you two lovie-dovies. xo

    • missy August 5, 2011 at 6:57 pm

You’re such a doll! And a HUGE thank you for posting our button on your site! I feel super special! xo

  • karissa August 5, 2011 at 4:40 pm

Love this cause I love our date nights but hate having to get a sitter all the time thanks I can’t wait try some of these

    • missy August 5, 2011 at 6:58 pm

Story of my life. We always want to do something simple and sweet to catch up & get away but can’t always snag down a sitter and/or want to just kick it at home. The star gazing is a great one to do in your own backyard! xo

  • Amy August 5, 2011 at 5:48 pm

This is so cute! I love the pictures.

    • missy August 5, 2011 at 6:58 pm

  • Liz Q August 5, 2011 at 5:52 pm

These are such cute pictures! Wonderful ideas. They make me want to build a blanket fortress and spend the night with my bf telling spooky stories lol

    • missy August 5, 2011 at 6:59 pm

Do it! I’d love to see your fortress!

  • Amy August 5, 2011 at 7:24 pm

P.S. I made some jersey knit wrap bracelets last night. I felt so crafty (which I so am not!). Thanks for the tutorial!!!

  • LYNN August 5, 2011 at 8:55 pm

You have an awesome hubby! Such a lucky girl! My husband would never do all the little things u do… Much less take pictures! Love to u both πŸ™‚ xo

    • missy August 6, 2011 at 9:55 pm

Aww, Lynn I bet he would! Once he tries it he’ll start to realize how much fun this kind of stuff can be! Love you too!

  • Kerri August 5, 2011 at 11:52 pm

So cute πŸ™‚ As per usual! Wow, it’s been awhile since I’ve had time to read my favorite blogs and comment. Hope you’re doing well! Have a good weekend with your hubby and bubba. πŸ™‚

Thank you for the inspiration! Question how did you get your fort to stay up?

    • missy August 6, 2011 at 9:57 pm

Ah hah! There in lies the REAL question! haha! We had several mishaps until we got it just right. But that was half the fun… figuring out how we could work together without arguing & throwing tantrums! ha! We ended up tying it from different places in our bedroom.

  • Brooke Hostetler August 6, 2011 at 2:19 pm

How stinkin’ fun! I have always wanted to build a fort!

    • missy August 6, 2011 at 9:58 pm

Do it! Making the fort is almost as fun as hanging out in it! πŸ™‚

Hi. I stumbled across this blog and fell in love with all the tips for toddlers, recipes, and date nights.
I have a question, how did you manage to have the fort stay up? Is it fishing line? What did you use for the ceiling?

  • Laura November 10, 2011 at 10:37 pm

This is the cutest thing I have ever seen! Not only is your fort awesome but I love the name of your dates “penny jar dates”. I just can’t say it enough..I love this.

  • Meg January 24, 2012 at 12:13 am

these are AWESOME ideas!! need to implement them into my date nights with my husband so we concentrate more on what we do rather than how much we spent.

  • Dottie February 23, 2012 at 2:20 pm

I have been married nearly 29 years. This is the way to keep things going! LOVE IT!!! Now where are those christmas lights…..

  • Katie July 12, 2012 at 6:57 am

I love the book thing, but the book nerd in me screams at the thought of defacing a book lol Maybe I can use pencil and lightly cross stuff out??

  • Megan August 30, 2012 at 6:20 pm

I feel the same way! I was thinking I’d have to photocopy pages before I could start the crossing out. =)
