Family Fun

Mommy + Me

January 29, 2013

Every morning, come 9 o’clock (baby’s 1st nap), we have a special little time together:

mommy + me.

It’s concentrated time, without interruption, to just be together.Β He gets to decide what we do (which on most days involves unloading garbage trucks and playing hide n’ seek in our usual spots).

But on this day, he wanted to cook (which I always welcome). Just so happened to also be a friend’s birthday.

Naturally we baked a mini birthday cake. Or in his words, a sparkles cake.

Eeee! I love that you have special “mommy and me” time with your son… those moments with little ones are so precious… they grow way too fast. Also, the mini birthday cake is such an adorable idea! Except I think I would make two mini cakes just for fun… one for my little girl and one for me!!! πŸ™‚ How did you make it… do you have a tiny cake pan?

I do have mini cake pans but not teeny-tiny ones… So i just used a biscuit cutter to make a tiny round (made about 4 when dividing the batter between two pans). Then slice the mini cake in half to create two layers, frost as usual. You’re right, definitely have to have one to eat yourself, too! haha! πŸ™‚

I love that you have Mommy and me time for him everyday. I am sure he loves it. Did you make te cake/frosting from scratch? If so, will you please post the recipe – it looks really good! Thank you

A hair tutorial on Pinterest led me to your blog & I’m officially hooked! I’ve never been one for reading blogs but after two weeks of daily “just seeing what’s new” landed Pink Pistachio on my Bookmarks Bar and, welllll, now I think there’s no turning back. My puppy girl, Emerson, is digging it too since she got some new rocking shampoo after I read the Rubba Dub Dub post. Much thanks, you’ve made me a blog[bel]iever! Cheers πŸ™‚

Such a sweet time of the day for you I’m sure. I love when parents are thoughtful and realize that the first born has needs and probably sometimes misses when it was just them, mom and dad. I think all families should have this special time when it’s one on one with each child. πŸ™‚
