February 7, 2012

In case you missed yesterday’s post, I made these cookies to celebrate the 2nd day in our 14 day lovefest. These sugar cookies are soft and buttery with just the slightest touch of lemon. Tell me who wouldn’t want to get a love letter that’s sweet enough to eat?

I am so excited; I’ve been looking for a cute Valentines Day gift idea, and these cookies are perfect! I love that they have a touch of lemon in them… makes them different (and better!) than the average sugar cookie! I have printed out the recipe for the cookies and icing and will be running out to get the supplies today! Thanks, PinkPistachio, your blog continues to be amazing, as always! xo

They’re fairly simple. Just go slow with the icing and detailing and they’ll turn out great! Excited for you!!!

I tried making sugar cookies the other day and they did not turn out good so thanks for sharing your recipe it will save me the hassle of finding a new one.

The williams sonoma ones are worth the investment. they come with a star as well as a heart. watch the tutorial on the website to see how you can stamp personal messages in cookies too! i use them for baby showers, particularly to stamp out baby’s name!

I just love that frosting idea, I know I said so yesterday but I just can’t get over how cute these are!

    • missy February 9, 2012 at 2:15 pm

It’s a quick whip up when you don’t have meringue powder lying around! ha!

These are really great! My little girlies would love to make these with me. Just wondering- have you found any other great decorating pens besides Williams Sonoma brand? Since we don’t have one in FC and they are out of white online, I’m wondering if there is another brand that will work as well? I’ve used decorating pens from Michaels before but they seemed a bit to runny and gel-ish.

    • missy February 9, 2012 at 2:16 pm

Yeah, I know what you’re talking about. I haven’t found any other pens that work the same way. However… you could just melt white chocolate and put it into a piping bag/ziplock and cut a tiny hole in the corner. It’d be basically the same idea. The williams sonoma pens are white chocolate.

I was hoping when you posted these yesterday that you would share the recipe – thankyou! I’ve always been scared of Royal Icing, but this is the perfect opportunity to try it out 🙂

    • missy February 9, 2012 at 2:16 pm

This royal icing recipe is waaaay easier than the tradition egg white or meringue powder versions. Can’t wait to hear how they turn out! xo

These are adorable! I haven’t tried making them but my So isn’t a big fan on lemon flavored anything so do you think mint extract might be a decent fill in?
