Maybe it’s a natural part of the ‘nesting’ phase; or perhaps it’s just the fact that I try to savor time. The reason doesn’t really matter. The point is, right before a new baby comes, I stock-up on cuddles with my youngest like an antique quilt hoarder with a bad habit (oh wait, that’s me as well). Can’t get enough — cuddles and quilts and little Love-love, that is. The days of our independent lounging are numbered. Once baby arrives, this bed of mine will be chock-full of burp cloths, feedings, and exhaustion. But for now, nap time is a club for just the three of us. Never has Bug been loved by any other human more than her sister. Peanut butter and jelly. Thelma and Louise. They’re inseparable little friends. It gives my Mama heart a glimmer into the future big sister she has the potential to be: always caring, always nurturing, always making sure her younger is safe. So many blessings fill the walls of this home. Ten newborn fingers and ten newborn toes soon to be counted as just a few more. My heart is thankful. Truly content. (sigh). Life is just so good right now.
