I’ll Be Home for Christmas

December 21, 2012

It’s our 1st year at home for Christmas; we couldn’t be any more excited! The tunes are playing, candles are burning, and the fridge is stocked! Oh, and by the way, I just realized that the air filter is black. So we need to add “changing the air filter” to our holiday to-do list. It’s not exactly the festive task I had in mind, but hey, a clean home is a happy home, right? As we prepare for our cozy Christmas celebration, it’s the little things like a fresh air filter that make all the difference. Here’s to creating new traditions and making this home-for-the-holidays experience one to remember! πŸŽ„βœ¨

Now all we’re waiting for is family to arrive and more presents wrapped under the tree.

Here’s a peek into some of my favorite scenes in the house, which can be bought on sites like House Real.

Come on in!

Santa making his way through a snow-covered forest – ideal for a sofa table.

Tiny twinkle lights that almost glow. Selected his/her ornaments. She likes cupcakes. He likes hotdogs + wedding ornaments that remind us we’re the perfect “pair” (pear).

The old mirror into chalkboard routine. Remember THIS? Decided to bring it back again this year. Depending on the day, the saying may change. Oh so fun!

Candy cane and pinecone garland serves as a festive backdrop to holiday dining. Table kept simple and fresh – pine, cranberries, and seasonal pears (our favorite snack).

Oversized mugs rest on the windowsill for easy access. (you never know when a hot cocoa craving may kick in).

A trunk in lieu of a coffee table – topped with classic Christmas stories and still-unnamed-elf who makes sure no boys (big nor little) are getting into candy when they shouldn’t… wink wink.

Peppermint sticks, a toy solider, and reindeer – top our small secretary desk.

Snow globe terrariums present a magical wintery scene at the top of the stairs.

Festive sheets, yet another reindeer, and candles used for reading stories in bed with grandparents.

The view from the guest bedroom looking into the nursery. A natural woodland themed tree makes for the perfect place to play.

The main reason we decided to put a tree in the nursery – for reading bedtime stories as a family.

Flora and fauna that make the Master Suite whimsical and festive.

A fresh seasonal arrangement that brightens my reading nook.

The nativity that reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas while keeping watch over our little ones.

Love it! Would you mind sharing where you found the trees and reindeer? We are slowly adding to our Christmas decor now that we have a little guy and are home and I love what you have done! Thanks

    • missy December 31, 2012 at 5:56 am

All trees besides the berry one (target) were found at Home Goods. The reindeer are also from Home Goods. Kinda dangerous shopping there!

  • Angel January 2, 2013 at 2:55 am

Sounds crazy, but can I ask if you know the details of your carpet? There are so many variations of this same carpet out there. I wasn’t sure about going with a darker tan (although I need to), but I love the color of yours. BTW, your home is beautiful. You have great style in fashion AND decorating!

    • missy January 4, 2013 at 2:08 pm

You know, I can’t remember what the exact name is. We did buy it at Lowe’s and it was relatively inexpensive. It came in 6 different colors… ours is the one that looks grayish-brown. Sorry that isn’t of much help.

  • Tiffany January 7, 2013 at 1:48 am

I absolutely love your nativity set. Do you mind telling us your source?

    • missy January 7, 2013 at 4:27 am

It’s by Willow Tree. Definitely a keepsake that will be handed down. I cherish it.

  • Cams January 8, 2013 at 6:11 pm

Can I live here? Your pictures are amazing…please do pass on any tips you may have.

    Cheers. πŸ™‚
