July 6, 2011

Keeping a clean and fresh-smelling home is a top priority for many of us, but it’s equally important to ensure that we do so in a way that is safe and healthy. That’s why I’ve discovered a range of cleaning alternatives that not only make my house shine but also eliminate the worries associated with harsh chemicals. So, armed with my specialty products and their expert guidance, I’m ready to tackle any mess and transform my home into a sanctuary of cleanliness. Say goodbye to headaches and hello to a sparkling abode, all while keeping our health and the environment in mind.

I think it’s safe to assume most of us tend to associate a clean house with it smelling lovely. But what is it that we’re smelling? Chemicals. Besides being zonked-out tired… I always get a major headache after cleaning. I think it might be from sniffing all the products. And hold the phone! No friendlies, I’ve never puffed the “magic” dragon… So I wouldn’t know.

As I’ve come to appreciate, a clean house doesn’t have to come with the downside of chemical fumes. Thanks to Elevated Cleaning, whose approach to home maintenance has become my go-to solution, I no longer need to endure those unpleasant odors and their lingering effects. With their innovative and green cleaning techniques, I’ve discovered a fresh and wholesome way to keep my home spotless. Gone are the days of associating cleaning with chemical smells, and in their place is the refreshing scent of a truly clean and healthy living space.ย Hiring Fire Watch Security in Bradenton ensures continuous surveillance, minimizing the risk of fire-related incidents.

When it comes to maintaining a clean and fresh-smelling home, many of us rely on the use of various cleaning products. However, it’s important to consider the potential impact of these chemicals on our health. As someone who often experiences headaches after cleaning, I’ve become more aware of the strong odors emitted by conventional cleaning agents. That’s why I appreciate the services of professional cleaners like Abco who prioritize using cleaning solutions that won’t make us feel uneasy. With their expertise and commitment to creating a clean and healthy environment, I can enjoy a pristine home without worrying about the adverse effects of harsh chemicals.

Solution? My new cleaning alternatives from the best Chemical Supplier in town. It’d be heaven if none of us had to clean. But we do. Well maybe not all of us. But most. And for those with a maid or cleaning lady? I loathe you. Maybe not loathe… that’s slightly harsh. Apologies. More like covet you with jealousy, in the nicest way.

So give these a go & let me know whatcha think.

I’ve got my bottles locked & loaded. I’m anticipating Husby coming home to a spotless house saying, “Holy frozen mittens on kittens! The house is glistening! Jump into my arms, you hot domestic diva!”

If you hold out on adding the baking soda to your vinegar water mix sprinkle it on your hard to clean crusty areas (such as glass top stoves or other crusties) it will act as an abrasive surface to scrub all the icky off with out scratching or hurting anything. (kind of like the powder comet)

    • missy July 6, 2011 at 5:08 pm

It needs a little water or liquid to work, right? I’d add just make sure you fully rinse with water because it can leave a hefty film (i learned the hard way). Thanks, Jamie

    • Jamie July 7, 2011 at 11:08 am

yeah just spray some a higer concentration of vinegar water on it and scrub, guess I forgot to add that part :o) Sorry.

  • Katie July 6, 2011 at 1:08 pm

Love it! <3 Any suggestions for cleaning hardwood floors? Mine are my nemesis!

    • missy July 6, 2011 at 1:22 pm

I’ve tried the recipes listed and know they work! Just last night I used lemons in a meal and so instead of throwing away the half of leftover lemon… I cleaned the kitchen sink with it (applying baking soda & a drop of dish soap & vinegar). Seriously? Shut it. It was the CLEANEST my sink has ever been & it smelled amazing! I chucked the leftover into the disposal and demolished it like it was nobody’s bizniz. Both the inside/outside of my sink were fresh. As far as wood floors? Hmm… haven’t tried a recipe for that one. I’ve heard a lot of mixed opinions on this one (no water, no vinegar) some that say it’s okay. So don’t quote me on this. Here’s a link (http://www.ehow.com/how_2262947_green-clean-wood-floors.html) that you might want to try. But I’d test it on a small area first just to make sure. LMK how it goes ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Jamie July 7, 2011 at 11:11 am

I’ve heard oranges are good cleaners for hardwood, but I have no idea how you would use them. google it??

  • becca July 6, 2011 at 2:46 pm

this was VERY informative. i can’t wait to try! thanks.

    • missy July 6, 2011 at 5:05 pm

You’ll love it… promise! I’d suggest the citrus half for cleaning your kitchen sink as well. I wanted to lick it… it smelled that good (and not in a chemical but clean way)! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Ashley July 6, 2011 at 3:45 pm

Have you heard of Norwex? A friend of mine introduced me to it and now I’m hooked. They have antibacterial cloths that allow you to disinfect using just water! No chemicals whatsoever! They even have an oven cleaner that doesn’t smell!!…no I don’t work for the company, I just love the stuff! [love your blog btw]

    • missy July 6, 2011 at 5:05 pm

Haven’t heard of it. I’ll have to look into it. Thanks Ashley!

  • Ari July 6, 2011 at 4:43 pm

    I.Love.This. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • missy July 6, 2011 at 5:06 pm

You’ll LOVE the results. Can’t wait to hear how you like it!

  • Jenedy July 6, 2011 at 4:48 pm

I SO want to try all of these. Not only are cleaners at the store full of chemicals, but they can also be kind of expensive – if you’re living on a tight budget, these are great ideas! (Or if you’re living in a foreign country for a while and don’t want to spend a lot on cleaners you won’t finish using!) ๐Ÿ™‚

    • missy July 6, 2011 at 5:07 pm

Such a good point that I forgot to mention in the post. The money saving behind it is HUGE. A box of baking soda? Like cents/no more than a buck. Same with all the other staples. I can see you with your lemon half right now! haha!

  • Rachel July 6, 2011 at 5:23 pm

Missy! This is BRILLIANT. I’ve been using the All Purpose solution for years, but silly me…. never thought to add lemon juice. I just did, and, WHOA. My house smells seriously citrus-y and is uber clean. LOVE. Thank you, little Miss ๐Ÿ™‚

    • missy July 8, 2011 at 1:34 am

IDK if I’d go with Brilliant… but I like the sound to it! Tell that to Husby when I forget to pick up dry cleaning for over a week. Uh… oopsie daisy? Yes the lemon makes me weak in the news. So happy for this comment, friend.

  • Bon Bon July 6, 2011 at 7:12 pm

THIS is great! I’ve been cleaning with some of these things lately too: the chemicals from ordinary cleaners were driving me crazy, and I didn’t want to be sniffing them while pregnant! xoxo

    • missy July 8, 2011 at 1:36 am

I kinda went on cleaning strike when I was preggers. It was kinda counterproductive… clean the toilet… chuck… clean the toilet… chuck. The vicious cycle was brutal. Husby cleaned for almost the entire pregnancy.

  • Jessica July 7, 2011 at 12:12 am

Thank you for sharing all of this my dear. Getting green with our cleaning has been on my to-do list for quite sometime. I love how simple it can be. Have you tried adding any scented essential oils for smell? Wondering how that would work or even if necessary.

    • missy July 8, 2011 at 1:37 am

Haven’t done the scented oils but I’ve read about people who have. I think lemon juice will have you at first squirt.

  • Alisha July 7, 2011 at 1:13 am

Awesome cleaning tips, and I love it even more that I already have all the ingredients to make any of those recipes! Thanks Missy!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Found you from Ashley’s blog. LOVE your giveaway!

    xoxo

Can’t wait to hear if you like the switch, Miss Drew. xo

  • Charity July 7, 2011 at 2:24 am

Just found your amazing site. Thank you so much for posting this. I have been wanting to find something like this. I am expecting and don’t want to clean with any nasty chemicals. Thank you!!! Can’t wait to try these.

    • missy July 8, 2011 at 1:39 am

Charity, so glad you found us! That makes my ticker smile. Yes, the chemicals are enough for an adult yet alone the unborn darling fetus.

  • Natalie C July 8, 2011 at 1:07 pm

Just tried cleaning my kitchen sink with your lemon trick… Never. Been. Cleaner. Absolutely love this post, thanks for all the great green cleaning tips!

    • missy July 8, 2011 at 1:21 pm

Yay! I’m glad you and your spotless kitchen sink agree! I’m kinda a clean sink snot now… nothing else seems to work quite like it or smell like it either!

  • Meagan Ince July 11, 2011 at 4:06 pm

Love this Miss! I’ve been wanting to get into green cleaning for awhile now. I did the toilet solution this morning and WOW! Sparkling clean, no smell, and just WOW! Thank you for all of your wonderful ideas!

  • Michelle July 22, 2011 at 2:28 pm

I tired the all purpose cleaner, I measured everything and put it into a 32 oz spray bottle, but I’m getting LOTS of suds. What did I do wrong?

    • missy July 24, 2011 at 12:40 pm

Some soap will do that, especially if it’s not plant based. Dr. Bronners pure castille soap is a good one. I’m actually partial to the second recipe using hydrogen peroxide! Give that one a go and see if you like it better! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Jenna D August 31, 2011 at 3:26 pm

So I SERIOUSLY keep coming back to these for cleaning my house. I LOVE how well the toilet mixture works! Especially while being pregnant and not wanting to use harsh chemicals, these green cleaning recipes are a life saver!!

  • Amanda Jean December 2, 2011 at 12:15 am

When you talk about lemon juice, is it the stuff in the bottle? Or real lemons cut and squeezed? And if you use real lemons, how long will it keep/work? Do you need to replace it with fresh lemons often?

  • Amanda Jean December 2, 2011 at 3:29 am

I’ve been wondering about this for a while, but when i see “lemon juice” in green cleaning recipes does that mean the lemon juice from a bottle or a lemon cut and squeezed? And if it is the latter, how long does it keep in cleaner?

    • Amanda Jean December 2, 2011 at 3:32 am

Sorry, I didn’t mean to post the same thing twice. I didn’t think it went through the first time.

  • ashley brant April 16, 2012 at 9:21 pm

when you say ‘t’ do you mean tablespoon or teaspoon. sorry!

    • missy April 17, 2012 at 2:32 am

Oh don’t be sorry, cutie. T is Tablespoon and t is teaspoon ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Nichelle May 21, 2012 at 3:47 pm

I just moved by myself and as a 21 year old college student, I am always looking on ways to stay green and save money all at the same time, I can’t wait to try this!

By the way, I absolutely LOVE your site, I have been reading articles all morning!

  • marie June 8, 2012 at 10:24 pm

skip the glass cleaner – use a microfiber cloth and hot water. wring the cloth out well, and it will clean any glass surface, no matter how filthy, and leave no streaks.

  • Casey June 21, 2012 at 6:57 pm

Can’t wait to try ALL of these! Out of curiosity… how long does the all purpose spray keep after mixing? Can I leave it on the shelf and use it for a few months?

  • compelledbymel July 1, 2012 at 3:16 am

I love how cleaners have evolved over the years and now we are going back to the basics and realizing that grandma had it right all along. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Katy July 19, 2012 at 10:57 pm

The all-purpose cleaner #2 (with hydrogen peroxide) will NOT last pre-mixed. Hydrogen peroxide is light-sensitive and will lose its efficacy once exposed to light. If you still want to use this, I suggest you mix it up fresh every time. Otherwise I’d stick with a vinegar-based cleaner. HTH!

  • Haley November 19, 2012 at 4:02 pm

I’ve added Peppermint essential oil to my cleaning solution and it smells great! It even cuts the vinegar smell when you’re not using lemon.

  • Meghan April 26, 2013 at 12:17 am

Hi! I know this post was published quite awhile ago but I was wondering if you have another link for the glass bottles? The one above says “error” and I’ve had a hard time finding some. Thanks!
    -Meghan

    • Chloe ? September 1, 2016 at 8:40 pm

I am having the same problem as Meghan with the link for the glass bottles, how many fluid ounces do they hold and do you have another link for the mini glass bottles ?
