Gifts Yule Love (part 1)

December 8, 2011

We all miss Oprah’s “Favorite Things” episode. It’s the only episode during the year I made sure to DVR. So rather than tell you what I’m coveting for Christmas, I thought it’d be more helpful to share with you some of my favorite things. Yes, things that I own and couldn’t live without. If you notice, there are no clothing items listed. Don’t get me wrong, that could be a whole other list. But clothing can be a touchy gift. So, tuck that potentially awkward situation away and give a gift they’ll LOVE!!!

WARNING: The following is lengthy… but I felt it necessary to explain the why’s. Apologies in advance.

1. Georgetown Cupcake $29+shipping – Other cuppies don’t compare. They’re just the right size, perfectly moist, and come delivered to your door in a darling pink box!

2. Michael Kors Oversized Runway Watch $250 – Hands down (no pun intended) this is my favorite accessory! 2 years ago I was hesitant to lay down this kind of money for an accessory. It can be worn with anything casual to dressy & makes any look complete. Definitely worth it’s weight in gold.

3. Aveda Comforting Tea $29 – The name says it all, pure comfort in a cup. The flavor is completely balanced. It’s earthy with a sweet after taste. Mmm… cozy.

4. Livestrong Tea Cup $15 – Drink your comfort tea in this little darling. It takes all guess work out of brewing your own cup. And yes, loose tea does taste better. Trust me.

5. RapidLash $50 – It’s the latest eyelash growing serum on the market and I’m a fan! After only 2 weeks, Husby asked if I had switched mascaras. If The Mr. noticed, that’s saying something. Yes, it’s kinda pricey but one bottle will last 3 months!

6. MAC Myth Lipstick $15 – Sweet lips, you’ll think you’ve died and gone to heaven. This silky nude lipstick works for every day and can be paired with any type of eye makeup look.

7. Crate & Barrel Popcorn Popper $30 – Loverbuns makes a mean batch of popcorn with this baby. It beats air popped or (dare I say the dreaded) microwaveable stuff. Give this guy with a batch of homemade caramel corn and you’ll be anyone’s bestie.

8. Versace Bright Crystal Perfume $varies – I’m not really one for perfume. Never have been. Kinda think it’s a waste of money. But for whatever reason, this scent is the exception. It’s a date night must. Husby seconds that.

9. Golden Bear Cigar Ring $295 – My mom got each of us girls one year for Christmas. Other than my wedding ring, it’s my favorite. I love how it works with gold or silver! Plus, it’s a little piece of Colorado I can wear wherever I go!

10. Gelish Gel Nail Polish System $varies – This gift could be a whole post by itself (I see a tutorial coming in the near future). The polish stays on for 3 weeks, stays shiny, and the glitter polish glistens like non other! I can NOT say enough good things about this stuff! You’ll need an LED or UV lamp, the base & top coats, polish of choice, and 90% rubbing alcohol.

11. Williams Sonoma Message-in-a-Cookie $14 – Making cookies custom is the best invention since fortune cookies. These special cookies are perfect for baby showers or any special party! Genius.

12. Trader Joe’s Chocolate covered Peppermint Joe-Joes $5 – Whether you need the perfect stocking stuffer or want a tasty little treat for friends, these are dangerously delicious!

13. Activeion IonatorHOM $180 – Another post in and of itself. The amazing folks at Spotless of Utah gave me one to try a few months ago. All of the cleaning products have since been thrown in the trash. It cleans ANY surface (glass, wood, stainless, counters, carpet, etc) with tap water! WHAAAT?! Yeah, tap water. I even use it to clean my fruits & veggies too. H1N1, rotavirus, and bacteria to 99.9% clean. The Dr’s featured it on their show, seen HERE. You’ll end up saving tons of $ never having to buy harmful cleaners again.

14. Breville Juicer $300 – This was our first Christmas present as a married couple. It keeps us out of the Dr’s office all winter long. Juicing fresh fruits and veggies is quick, easy, and beyond delicious. Even ask Bubs. He begs for it as soon as we pull it out of the cupboard.

Some great selections here! I hear you on the Michael Kors watch, I’m obsessed with perfume so totally agree with you on that scent, and I used to manage an Aveda spa and had that tea all day long!

I really want to give that cleaning product a try, sounds fab! And I STILL need a good juicer that’s easy to clean…is this one?

I love your list! I’m a big fan of cupcakes, no matter the occasion (or no occasion at all, for that matter) :). And cosmetics are always a fun gift to get and give. And I agree, a good watch is worth it’s weight in… well, whatever it’s made of! 🙂 Hope you’re enjoying your pre-Christmas decorating, shopping, celebrating, all that! 🙂

This is the best blog gift list I’ve seen so far! It’s hard to find something different from the norm. Thanks!

If you’re ever in Scottsdale then you have to try 21 Cakes cupcakes. They are the absolute best I’ve ever had..I wonder how they compare to Georgetown…

Thanks for the input. I have some in-laws that are seriously hard to buy gifts for, and these got me thinking. Thanks friend!

I always have wondered if any lash serums work, so you’ve got me sold on Rapidlash! Great idea on a round up – make gift selecting so much easier if you’ve heard someone else rave about it 🙂

Oh my, I have to try the lash stuff! I have tried revitalash and loved it, but it seems to work so slooow!
Ps. I have the oversized MK gold watch and I love it! I get compliments on it all the time and mostly from guys saying they’ve never seen such a cool girls watch!

I love this list, I want everything on here!

I bought that MK watch two years ago and I totally agree with you, it’s worth it’s considerable weight in gold. Best watch ever!

Afternoons just aren’t the same without Oprah. Sigh. We got that popcorn maker for our wedding. I use it every Christmas to make my white choc popcorn! Yum:)

There’s something about it being made this way that makes it more delicious! And white chocolate popcorn? Do share, my friend.
