Easter! Have you thought about it? Yikes. Me neither. Before it’s here, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite Easter finds. The carrot boxes. How perfect would those be for a slice of carrot cake to give to friends? Or the bunny cake pan… dress it in ganache and call it a chocolate bunny!

And yeah… the dirt and seeds.

For a few years now I’ve contemplated growing grass for our Easter baskets. A trip to the nursery (for another project coming to a post near you) made me commit to finally doing it. I spotted some cat grass with its beautiful thick blades and I HAD to have it for our baskets.  UPDATE: see finished baskets HERE.

What You’ll Need:

8 inch plastic saucer (used for under plants)
plastic Easter basket ($2 at Target)
optional wicker basket ($9 at Target)
potting soil
cat grass seeds

Instructions:

Using a pushpin, poke several holes in the bottom of the plastic saucer. Fill with potting soil. Plant seeds and water. Once grass is grown, place saucer inside plastic basket (it’s the perfect fit) and then inside the wicker basket (again, another perfect fit).

Thank you for posting this now. I’m going to get everything today. My little guys will think it’s great that mom will let them play in the dirt. I love projects that teach my little ones to get involved and how things grow.

How cute! I love that idea. My little nieces would adore having real grass in their basket. Plus, it would save my cat from trying to eat the gross plastic grass and puking.
