French Onion Soup

November 25, 2011

Hoping everyone has been enjoying time with family and friends these past couple of days. We sure have! Ryan’s parents are in town and we’re enjoying every minute together.

After a big feast yesterday, I’m not overly in the mood for heavy food (with the exception of this morning’s blueberry pancakes, of course).

Needless to say, warm comforting soup will be perfect for an early dinner tonight. You’ll find my rendition to be slightly less rich, with the addition of chicken stock. Hear me out a minute, it’s just as tasty though. After reviews from the whole family, they told me I HAD to post it for you all.

Words of Warning:
1) Have plenty of gum, mouth wash, and/or breath mints on hand.
2) Change your clothes before going anywhere afterwards (chances are, you could smell like a giant arm pit).
3) Don’t let either discourage you from making it for dinner tonight – yes, a small sacrifice to pay in the name of yumminess’ sake.

Haha a giant armpit – love it! It’s so true though! I always have all the fans and vents going at max when I cook onions – but this does look delish. I’ve made French onion soup with vegetable stock before (I’m vegetarian) and it tastes great so I might just sub that in and do the rest according to your recipes.

    Glad you enjoyed your Thanksgiving!

Seriously, I sprayed my hair with perfume before I left the house, just to be safe. There’s nothing worse than standing next to someone and getting a strong whiff of whatever they ate for dinner. Ew. Hope you enjoy your soup!

I am so happy you posted this! My sister had French onion soup today and it smelled divine, but I don’t eat beef so I never order it when I am out. I cannot wait to try this out. Thank you so much for posting this!

Oh that looks SO yummy! I think I will be headed to the grocery store to fill my cart with onions! 🙂

Beware of people who’ll stop, stare, and potentially ask, “What on earth are you doing with all those onions?”

Yummers! Had it for dinner tonight! Delish! I think it was meant to be, too. While at the grocery I found the perfect oven safe soup bowls. Thanks for sharing!
