Fabulous in Five

August 15, 2012

Let’s face it (pun intended) whether you have kidlets or not, time seems to fly faster these days. Taking hours isn’t the name of my game (a’hem dare I remind you I’m an every 5 day hair washer?). However, that doesn’t mean we can’t all spare 5 minutes to put on a bit of makeup to feel more fresh and put together. And if you don’t wear makeup; maybe this quick regimen can be your time to try it out? It’s kinda fun. In any case, here’s what I do on most days. If you have an extra minute to spare, you can try my new favorite fad… these falsies.

1   2   3   4   5 in “rockstar”   6 in “3D”   7 in “pearly copper”

  • Jenn August 15, 2012 at 4:03 pm

I LOVE this post! I have two kids as well and since I’m a full time working mother, I have found some creative ways to look presentable (to say the least). I definitely need to try Dr. Jart, it sounds amazing.

    • missy August 15, 2012 at 6:27 pm

Um… from a fellow Mama, I totally hear you! Dr. Jart makes me happy. You’ll love how moisturized your skin feels as well as look (an almost dewey with even sheer coverage).

  • Kellee August 15, 2012 at 5:48 pm

Gorgeous!!!! How long does the bottle of moisturizer last you? It looks fantastic. Thank you for showing us!

    • missy August 15, 2012 at 6:25 pm

I’ve been using it daily for almost a month straight and probably have about another month’s worth. I go light on it; so I guess it kind of depends on how much coverage you need/want. You’re so sweet, Kellee! And you’re VERY welcome. Glad to be of some help! xo

  • katie b August 15, 2012 at 5:52 pm

Seriously, you are the cutest. Actually, I should say prettiest… But I wanted to include your darling personality too. good tips!

    • missy August 15, 2012 at 6:24 pm

I’m far from either but feel VERY flattered you think so! Thanks for the comment, doll. xo

  • Grace August 15, 2012 at 6:01 pm

So I may or may not be a marketers dream… but I just went to Sephora on my lunch break to buy pretty much all of these things. ha! Can’t wait for makeup time tomorrow. 🙂 Thanks for the recommendations!

    • missy August 15, 2012 at 6:23 pm

Meep! Haha! I’m so excited for you to try it. LMK what you think! xo

  • DevonRiesenberg August 15, 2012 at 6:03 pm

perfection! I really love that Makeup Forever eyeshaddow crayon especially…I need to figure out which shades go with my eyes/complexion. I never know…!

    • missy August 15, 2012 at 6:23 pm

Sounds like inspiration for another beauty post! I’d love to help you know which shades for which eye colors! If you need the crayon asap go with the copper or a brown (works on all eye colors).

  • amy August 15, 2012 at 7:19 pm

I am def going to try the moisturizer! Loved your nail polish. Can you tell me what color it is?

    • missy August 17, 2012 at 2:10 am

      It’s Orly’s Passion Fruit 🙂

  • Regina Reed August 15, 2012 at 7:29 pm

Great post – you are adorable! What is on your nails?

    • missy August 17, 2012 at 2:10 am

One of my favorite finds this summer… it’s Orly Passion Fruit (semi neon but not overly loud).

  • Katie August 15, 2012 at 7:30 pm

Yes! Please do a post on what shades of eye shadow work with what eye colors! That is something that still puzzles me!

    • missy August 17, 2012 at 2:10 am

      In the works, love.

  • Hailey August 15, 2012 at 8:26 pm

Love the tutorial. I agree about the Dr Jarts it is awesome! I am a BE addict as well so love the idea of layering to two. Need to take a look into the MUFE crayon. Thanks for the ideas. 🙂

    • missy August 17, 2012 at 2:11 am

You’re so very welcome Hailey! It’s good to hear from you! xo

  • Erinn August 15, 2012 at 8:29 pm

What mascara did you use? Very pretty and easy look! Also if you get a chance love to know where your July 4th outfit was found!

    • missy August 18, 2012 at 1:47 pm

I think I used a L’oreal for this post… but it honestly changes constantly. I really like Maybelline’s Stiletto mascara. I also updated the 4th of July post with links to the outfit. Sorry I didn’t do that to begin with… I never know who does/doesn’t want the details. xo http://www.pinkpistachio.com/happy-birthday-usa/

  • Courtney Kalmes August 15, 2012 at 9:20 pm

loved this video – definitely needed this! so in the video did you use a blush {if so what color} or did you just use the bare minerals warmth? you look adorable!

    • missy August 17, 2012 at 2:12 am

Yes, it’s just the warmth. When I spend more time I go over with a gold shimmery eyeshadow on my cheek bones and/or use the illuminating mineral veil from bare essentials.

  • Michelle August 15, 2012 at 9:48 pm

Love it! Don’t know what I’d do without your blog! You’re the best 😉 what kind of mascara do you use?

    • missy August 17, 2012 at 2:13 am

You’d keep on breathing, cute girl! I think I’m currently using a L’oreal one. I switch all the time (kind of a mascara junky).

  • Heather August 16, 2012 at 1:56 am

I think you wrote this just for me since I’m always without makeup!

    • missy August 17, 2012 at 2:20 am

Shut it right now, silly. Not the case…

  • Angel August 16, 2012 at 2:13 am

Ah-maz-ing! I ran out to my local Sephora and got the moisturizer, eyeshadow, eyeliner and lip gloss. My complexion is much different than yours (olive from being half Chinese) and the moisturizer does work for my skin tone just as well…beautiful finish! I ended up getting two darker tones of shadow (brown eyes) – I got the grey and the dark brown.

The best part is that I looked them all up on the Skin Deep website prior and they were all very safe – most under a rating of 3 (on a scale of 1-10). thanks for all the tips…I just love your daily posts. 🙂

    • missy August 17, 2012 at 2:14 am

I got your back, sister! I don’t like to use makeup products that are sick nasty. It’s painful to be beautiful sometimes… but makeup shouldn’t be one of them. Glad you’re a fan of Dr Jart!

  • Annie August 16, 2012 at 3:14 am

Remember when you swore you’d never wear brown eyeshadow? I will never forget how you eyes popped when I put that on your lids. That may be the only tip I taught ya, but I’m enjoying yours now! 🙂 Or the $50 tear? Haha! I will never forget that funny moment. Love ya sister!

    • missy August 17, 2012 at 2:15 am

Bahaha! The $50 tear was just that… a crazy makeup artist taking a dumb naive blonde for all she was worth! Hilarious! From that day on I learned to do makeup myself (at least I got some tricks of the trade out of that robbery).

  • Amanda August 16, 2012 at 3:38 am

Equally curious about your nail polish!!! Loved the color and the amazing post. Momma of two kiddies here and a quick makeup routine is a life saver!
I may be making a quick trip to Sephora tomorrow 🙂

    • missy August 17, 2012 at 2:17 am

You’re too cute! Thank you for the support. It’s awkward for me to put up videos of myself… but to get this kind of feedback makes it easier. ha! The polish is Orly Passion Fruit. 😉

  • Emily August 16, 2012 at 11:25 pm

Love the video, I’m going to have to go out for that makeup tomorrow! Also, what is your nail color? I love it!

    • missy August 17, 2012 at 1:12 am

It’s Orly in Passion fruit! I love that it borderlines on neon but isn’t overly loud. It’s been one of my favorite polishes all summer!

  • Jennifer August 16, 2012 at 11:42 pm

Great post idea! I always love seeing other’s makeup routines 🙂 I’m a “five minute makeup” type girl myself. I’ve got to try that Dr. Jart’s though. I’ve been wondering how the BB creams are. Next trip to Sephora I am definitely getting myself one of those eyeshadow crayons! They look fantastic. Easy peasy, my kind of makeup!

    • missy August 17, 2012 at 2:18 am

I absolutely LOATHE foundation and how it feels on my face… so I was reluctant to try the BB cream since it claims to act as a concealer. To me, it’s more of a moisturizer that helps even my skin tone. It doesn’t feel like concealer AT ALL. Let me know what you think of the products if you try them! xo

  • Courtney August 17, 2012 at 12:31 am

Haha I loved this you are so cute! I really want that Makeup Forever eye stuff it looks amazing!!

    • missy August 17, 2012 at 2:19 am

Thanks, Courtney! I’m more of a dork rather than cute… but you made me smile that you think I’m the latter. xo

  • Kim Dean August 17, 2012 at 4:35 am

So, can I just say you don’t even need makeup! YOu do look flawless without it! So jealous. A post about any general skin care routine would be so so awesome. Or do you just have great skin? ha 🙂

  • Jessi August 17, 2012 at 5:40 am

I have the hardest time finding a routine that balances simply between juggling my newbie, fitness, getting myself ready, and daily duties. {I need a nap just going through the list! lol} This makeup routine- genius, simple, and so lovely! I don’t know what I would do without your blog. Thank you so much for posting this.

  • Michelle Torres August 17, 2012 at 12:28 pm

Thanks for sharing some great products I want to try. The eye shadow crayon and Dr. Jart is on my list to buy this weekend! Adorable video BTW!!!! Have a great weekend!

  • Heather Moss August 17, 2012 at 6:02 pm

Tried it – love it all! Thanks so much! Quick tips are the best… you are adorable!

  • Kirsten August 18, 2012 at 1:33 am

I’m quickly falling in deep like for your tips and tricks!!! However, even though I have Adobe Flaclshplayer, I’m somehow unable to watch this video. 🙁 Is there a written tutorial about this somewhere?

  • Morgen August 18, 2012 at 12:36 pm

Love this post! Can you show us how you put on the falsies?? What kind of glue do you use? I tried using falsies once and I looked like a hot mess! Lol 🙂

  • Sheila August 21, 2012 at 9:37 am

Awesome! I’m a five minute makeup fan.
Did I miss the link to the eyelashes? I looked and looked but couldn’t find it – your’s look natural – not like those crazy over the top type.

  • Megan August 25, 2012 at 7:26 am

Loved this tutorial!! I was sold on most of the items you used. I got them today and LOVE them all. I think my skin is going to thank me big time for the switch too. Keep them coming– this busy new mommy and sonography student loves your time savers!! Thanks! 🙂

  • RachelF August 27, 2012 at 6:31 pm

I love this! I hate curling my hair everyday but leaving it straight can be so boring and flat! I have used bareminerals for a couple years now but never used the Matte, do you like it better?

  • Colleen August 29, 2012 at 12:30 am

How adorable are you?? Im a mom of two as well – I have a 2 year old girl and a 2 month old boy – and to say I’ve been feeling drab lately is an understatement. Aside from that, the past few years I’ve just felt like the make-up I’ve been getting/using is meh at best and doesn’t really do anything for me. Between Amazon and Ebay I’ve just bought all of these items and can’t wait to use them. Thank you SO much for sharing!

  • Karley August 30, 2012 at 3:48 am

My favvvvorite bronzer is HOOLA by Benefit. It is a miracle!

  • Elizabeth September 3, 2012 at 1:33 am

I was just looking for new products to use. I came to read your post you had done in the past where you had talked about bare minerals, and found this! You have real changed so many aspects of my daily get ready routine! Thank you!

  • Christie @ Pathtothehalf September 12, 2012 at 1:18 am

Your 5 min make up is life changing! Thank you for the tutorial, I now do it everyday!! I am posting about you on my page 🙂 Thanks again! Found you via pinterest

  • Nicole September 16, 2012 at 7:20 pm

Love this post!! I just bought the dr. Jart cream and it is amazing! I have even gone a few days just using that and my blush on my face. It looks great. I love the eyeshadow pencil too. I am a sephora junkie but sometimes it takes posts like these to make a product stand out. Thank you!!!!

  • Chelsey October 8, 2012 at 7:36 pm

Absolutely love this. Especially being a mom myself. i have found that life and money have robbed me of that pretty I used to see in myself. Now I just avoid the mirror. I love the simplicity of it all, but I got looking at the prices of all that makeup…ouch… a family on a budget can’t afford things like that…is it really worth all that money rather than going to walmart and buying cover girl and such? I am sure it is, but never having worn expensive make up I need a little direction…best brands and places that sale it.

  • Shannon October 9, 2012 at 5:23 pm

How do you remove the waterproof make up? Do you use eye make up remover? Which one? Thx

    • Dayanaira January 20, 2013 at 5:36 am

You can use makeup remover wipes or (depending on the what brands or makeup you use) baby wipes! I use baby wipes cuz you can get more for your buck! I would say if you use thick mascara to use makeup remover wipes

  • Taylor Nicole October 12, 2012 at 3:05 pm

OMG! I love this! Thank you SO much!

  • Megan October 15, 2012 at 1:14 am

How do you do your eyeliner so quickly? What kind do you use?

  • Frances Raybon October 20, 2012 at 3:26 pm

I got the Dr. Jarts and LOVE it. I have dry skin and it makes is moisturized and gives me coverage in one step. I also got the shadow crayon, but I’m curious how long it will last. You can’t sharpen it b/c it’s plastic. Is the tip all you get of the color or is there a way to push it up???

  • Ashley November 1, 2012 at 10:24 am

OMG. You are absolutely beautiful! Soo.. I need some help. I think you are the gal that could really actually help me 🙂 🙂
    Issue #1
My skin is very dry although I use the best products EVER. Its a congenital thing.. (or perhaps accutane as a teen) Everytime I put makeup on, even with great exfoliation and hydrating moisturizer, my makeup looks cakey! I am current using a mineral makeup of high quality. There has to be a trick…….
    Issue #2
Every time I do makeup like on all the things I find online… including this vid, I feel the look isn’t for me! I have deeper set eyes and when I apply eye makeup I look OLD and racoonish. lmao HELP! I have a wedding to go to.. just had my second baby and.. a divorce. Yuck. Bad timing to be attending a wedding!
thank you thank you for your help 🙂

  • Erin November 17, 2012 at 3:01 am

Just came across your site. Thinking of the eye crayon. I have brown eyes. My lids always seem darker without any makeup on them–I always put a concealer on them first before shadow. Wondering if maybe just the moisturizer you use and a crayon would work (and if so-what color?). Don’t have a Sephora near me so I have to buy online!! Thanks much!!

  • Kirsti November 28, 2012 at 10:39 pm

I loved watching all of your tutorials! You are just too cute! Does the Dr. Jart make your face oily? I have sensitive skin but I really would like to try it out! Also, does your eyeshow crease? Cause I know after wearing a cream-ish eyeshadow, they tend to crease after a while. Looking forward to watching more tutorials from you! 🙂

    • missy November 29, 2012 at 1:35 am

I have super sensitive skin too and this is awesome! And no, the shadows don’t crease! Good on both accounts! Yay!!!

  • Lesya November 30, 2012 at 8:07 pm

Love this video! I llllove the BB cream also — i use Smashbox. Great tips but i honestly think you are such a natural beauty — you look great with no make up at all! 🙂

  • Katie December 3, 2012 at 4:50 pm

Bah Omg! I just tried the dr jarts and am IN LOVE! I used smashbox once and like instantly broke out but this one is soooo nice! It makes your skin look perfecto 🙂 thank you!

  • Kaity December 5, 2012 at 8:18 pm

    You are so pretty!

  • Tanja December 7, 2012 at 6:43 pm

    You’re a beauty with & without make-up! Please don’t doubt yourself or say you’re not… YOU Are!!

I use L’Oreal BB, love it, but will try Dr. Jarts next since I love the SPF and the coverage you show.

Would you consider a tutorial for date night make-up too? It would help me & I’m sure so many more women.

  • Rene' Stevens December 15, 2012 at 11:25 pm

  • Erin December 18, 2012 at 3:30 am

I have brown eyes..not sure if I should get the copper color for the eyeshadow pencil or the taupe. Thoughts??

    • missy December 18, 2012 at 1:14 pm

I’d go with the copper or even a chocolate brown. 🙂

  • Lyndsay January 2, 2013 at 5:24 am

Found your blog through the ever amazing Pinterest! I am a preschool teacher and a soon-to-be momma and love this video! You are absolutely adorable and relatable and I am currently perusing through your many posts 🙂 Thanks for posting this!

  • amy January 8, 2013 at 4:21 am

I love this video and have been loving your posts. I love the idea of a quick make up routine but my skin is not as flawless as yours. I often need to cover acne and redness. any tips? love that eye shadow pen!

  • Mary January 10, 2013 at 8:14 pm

  • Tarra January 17, 2013 at 6:01 pm

What is the brand of eye liner? I can’t get the link to work. thanks!!

    • missy January 17, 2013 at 8:24 pm

It’s by Urban Decay (sold and ulta and sephora)

  • Janna January 20, 2013 at 2:49 am

Hey I just found you on Pinterest and I am LOVING your tutorials! We have the same skin coloring & eye color so I was very pleased to see this makeup tutorial. I am excited to try some of these products. 🙂 Thanks!!!

  • Beth January 21, 2013 at 2:13 am

Oh my how beautiful are you before make-up! I found you on pinterest with your 10 minute loose curls (did them today for church -loved them!) Now, onto make-up! Will definitely try some of these products! I have 2 girls, need all the extra time for the hair braiding I can get!

  • cathleen January 25, 2013 at 12:59 pm

Love your tutorial! I went on the Sephora site to order the shadow, but the shadows agree listed by number … Do you know what number the bronze shadow is? Thanks 🙂

  • crystal January 26, 2013 at 3:44 pm

Love your website! !!! All the beauty finds, nail polishes and hair tips!!!! Keep it coming! !! ♥♥♥

  • Christy January 29, 2013 at 11:20 pm

Found you via Pinterest. I grabbed the Pearly Taupe eye crayon from Makeup Forever. I was scared of the copper… but I LOVE the taupe! Thanks for the recommendation! 🙂

  • Kailene January 31, 2013 at 7:06 pm

You are so cute! Love this makeup tutorial – not too overdone for everyday, but still very pretty! And just in time – my sweet & lovely 3 year daughter dropped my MAC compact on the bathroom floor on Sunday and it couldn’t be saved – thankfully my makeup was already done for church! Sooooo- I have been debating on what to replace it with…..and feeling blah all week without it!

I so identify with what you said about not feeling awake until your makeup is on! If I get up and don’t get dressed, put my contacts in and put makeup on, I feel like a blob…..but if I DO all of those things, I get SO much accomplished and just feel better.

One question – I love the natural look of the gloss you put on at the end of your tutorial, but is it, in fact, the “3D” by Lorac? The pic of the gloss shown looks like it has more color than the one on your lips….I’d like to go for more of a natural look for everyday.

    Thanks!

  • Priscilla February 16, 2013 at 4:58 pm

wow. I am amazed. you look beautiful even without makeup.
I just found you…I mean your website. it’s amazing.
I’m always happy to find people like you. so lovely.
God bless you and your family.

  • Caroline July 8, 2013 at 4:32 pm

Love this tutorial! Im a college student and I constantly trying to find ways to save time in the early mornings!

Where is your watch from?! I LOVE it!

  • Leah August 20, 2013 at 1:02 am

Great tips! I love that you made it so easy. Im trying to find the urban decay eyeliner in rockstar do they not carry it anymore? If so what is similar to rockstar?

  • Lisa September 13, 2013 at 5:36 pm

Great tutorial! I work from home, and have gotten in the bad habit of no makeup most days because it always seems to take too long. Today I follow the steps using what I already had, and wow – I like my CC cream much better with a light dusting of my dual finish powder. I have the same shadow, but in the pearly taupe, and used my favorite charcoal liner. Not sure I could do the copper with my skin tone. I must say I have always been an upper lid eyeliner girl, never doing a waterline, but today skipped the top liner, and just did the waterline, and it looks really good! I just picked up the dreamlumi from your well-rested tutorial, added that, and wow. Thank You so much! Sometimes changing it up can make a big difference!
