Dusty Road Sundaes

December 22, 2011

Peppermint ice-cream is a classic holiday dessert I trace back to when I wore pigtails. Mom would take us to an old fashioned ice-cream parlor with trains that circled the perimeter of the ceiling. We’d always order club sandwhiches stacked multiple levels high and finish it off with a scoop of peppermint ice-cream (the kind with little peppermint pieces mixed in).

As you can imagine, recreating peppermint sundaes brings me back to these special times. Dusty Road Sundaes, as we like to call them combine homemade peppermint ice-cream, malt, chocolate sauce, and whip cream! If you’re looking for an extra special treat to share with loved ones this weekend, this one should be it!
