Munchkin’s 2nd Birthday brought lots of joy along with lots of projects. One of which was making picnic blankets for family and friends to dine on. Husby spotted these canvas drop cloths at Home Depot gathering goods for his party. They were kind of perfect… the backside is lined with plastic – so paint won’t seep through the other side or dewing grass, for that matter.
STEPS:
1) Remove canvas from packaging, unfold, and lay out over night to remove wrinkles
2) Tape edge all the way around using painter’s tape. Make another stripe as wide or as narrow as desired.
3) Dip paintbrush and remove almost all paint (brush should be almost dry).
4) Paint exposed canvas (between tape) using even strokes
5) Let dry completely
6) Remove paint

I did some of these years ago with my kids…we painted a border and then added some thumbprint ants …really fun….Recently I discovered some really neat drop clothes at Porter Paints. They are darker in color and have a linen like texture to them – I am making a table cloth for my harvest table out of one….would also make a lovely picnic blanket….
This is cute. Where did you get the drop cloth I have trouble finding ones without a big seam through the middle

I suppose they would be if you used appropriate paint and let it air dry.
Quick question, have you ever tried Washing these in the washing machine. Does it work?
We haven’t washed them but if you use permanent paint, there’s a good chance it would work!
