Already six days into February and no 14 Days of Love? Well, this year we’re scaling back a bit. Of course, there will still be Valentine’s posts (as if my two favorites aren’t pink and hearts). Valentine’s Day has always been my favorite holiday; but sometimes life throws unexpected curves your way and you can either force life and be miserable or choose to be adaptable. And we’re choosing smiles.
Earlier this week we spent the whole morning making and coloring with heart crayons. I spotted these aluminum molds at an antique store last year and had to have them! The boys loved sorting by color, peeling off the paper, and snapping them in bits!
Preheat the oven to 250 and melt for 15 minutes. Once cooled, pop out of the molds (muffin or silicone pans work too). Package in cellophane bags stuffed with paper peelings, with a tag saying: Valentine, you make my heart melt!
Just a Tidbit: I covered the table with Kraft paper to keep the mess to a minimum; but it also made for the best coloring surface once the crayons were finished! Win win!
I’ve been wanting to do this with my two littles too. What a fun Valentine! Question: Do you need to spray the tins so they don’t stick, or do they easily pop out without? Thanks!
