Hi Missy – LOVE the cranberry smokey eye – and thanks for the tutorial. Just a few questions – in the video you refer to the Urban Decay shadow as Half Baked, but in the links you have listed Twice Baked. Just wondering which is the correct colour? Also – the Aqua Shadow pencil you use – is the beginning one the same colour as the one you use later on? And to clarify that colour is 30E as you say in the video? As in the links it’s listed as 22E. If you could let me know I would appreciate it! Wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving!

    • missy November 26, 2013 at 3:42 pm

I always say ‘Half Baked’ because clearly I like that flavor of Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream! Ha! It is in fact, Twice Baked. Yes, the light pink is 30E and copper for the inner 3rd is 22D. Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

Love the video and such a fun look! <3
Question… You mentioned in the video that if you wear a loose powder foundation that you also said you can also use the Revlon primer instead of the NARS Airbrush but the only catch with using the Revlon primer was not to use with a liquid foundation. So I use the DR. JART+
Water Fuse Beauty Balm and then the cover with the Bare Escentuals loose foundation powder. So is the Revlon okay to use or stick to the NARS? Also, can you give me the item number to the Revlon Primer you are mentioning. thanks so much! I love everything about your site! Keep up the great tips with making us mommies looking good!

    • missy November 26, 2013 at 3:53 pm

Yes, that’s correct. If using a BB cream I’d recommend: bb cream + mineral foundation + NARS. If using the Revlon primer I’d recommend using Revlon #1 + mineral foundation (liquid seems to be too thick with the primer, just my opinion). Hope that makes sense!

You are adorable! After watching you put on makeup, I now understand why I will never look so polished! I spend 5 minutes at most doing my “face”. I have very fair skin & blondish hair and shy away from anything dark. I love all your videos. Thank you!

I now also have some ideas for my Christmas Wish List for my hubby. I LOVE benefit products, but don’t want to spend the money. For my birthday I bought myself Bathina shimmering body lotion. I love it! I am wishing for Watt’s up and the blish you used as well. Now I need to find some shadows to add to my list, and maybe a nice makeup bag too! Any suggestions?

Hi Missy! I just picked up these new colors at Sephora today. I never do dark eye make up (I wear your wide awake look most days.) I’m excited to try this look! Thanks for all of your tips, I look forward to your posts each day!

    • Kim November 27, 2013 at 10:33 pm

Oh, where do I find the steps for the Wide Awake Look?

I used to work for a major cosmetic company when my husband and I were first married. We just celebrated our 20th anniversary, so it seems like a lifetime ago, but it was a job that I loved and was quite good at (pre-babies). After watching a few of your makeup tutorials I realized that I might have a little tip that I could share with you. I notice that when you’re getting ready to apply your mascara that you “pump” the wand into the tube to coat it with product. One of the first things I learned was that using the “pump” technique will shorten the life of your mascara because it pumps air into the tube and dries it out a lot quicker. If you twist and swirl the wand inside of the tube instead, you will still coat the wand with product and you’ll be pleasantly surprised to discover that your tube of mascara will last a lot longer. I was previously a “pumper” and it took me a little while to remember not to do it but it is a habit that has served me well. 🙂

Thanks for sharing these great tutorials! I love your blog!!

How do you sharpen your Make Up Forever pencils? I need to upgrade my sharpener, mine is not doing the trick and leaves the aqua shadow with sharp edges.

    • missy December 19, 2013 at 8:58 pm

I use Make Up For Ever’s… but Sephora has one that works just as well (dual – large and small that will fit all pencils).

  • KD December 19, 2013 at 4:05 pm

What sharpener do you use for your Make Up Forever? Mine is getting sharp edges, clearly, I need an upgrade. Thanks!

Hi I live in UK and can’t find Peter Thomas roth cc cream anywhere:( wanted to even buy a sample but it is too expensive on ebay, shipping cost is 4 times more than a sample itself! I read really good reviews about this product. I am blonde with fair skin, think similar to you, may I know which colour do you use light or light to medium? I read light could look a bit pale or ashy.. But light to medium is too orange according some users.. Is it also good for combination/ oily skin? I would appreciate if you can reply. Thanks a lot, Viola

    • missy July 24, 2015 at 11:35 pm

Viola! This CC cream is the best out there, truly! I’ve tried countless BB/CC creams and this one is my ultimate favorite! I take the light to medium shade. Yes, I think it’s fabulous for any skin type!!
