Cooking with Blue Apron

March 6, 2015

Last week we received a special delivery from Blue Apron — a food service that delivers amazing recipes along with all the ingredients (right down to pre-portioned spices, oils and garnishes) right to your front door!

The box came perfectly organized: on the bottom all meats came encased in ice-packs, the middle layer contained the produce and seasonings (each extremely fresh, individually wrapped, and labeled to avoid any confusion) and on top, step-by-step pictured recipe cards for following while cooking. I’ve heard fabulous things about this company before — meals start at $8.74 per person, you can skip a week if you don’t have the time, all plans have no commitment (cancel anytime).

Now having tried Blue Apron for myself, I can attest, this concept is practical, fun, and delicious! And it couldn’t have come at a more opportune time. I’m in full-blown nesting mode trying to get everything done, the boys have been sick, and it’s been almost impossible to leave the house. To not have to worry about, ‘What’s for dinner?’ has truly been a lifesaver. The added bonus? The kids LOVED helping me, each step of the way.

On the menu for this meal was Lamb & Beef Shawarma with Creamy Radish salad. I must admit, I’ve never bought lamb… let alone try to create a traditional Turkish meal. However, the flavors were so bright and zesty I felt like I was back on the streets of Istanbul! We all kept grunting and groaning — really, really, tasty!

A few other recipes I’m eager to try are: Pork & Hominy Pozole and the Winter Mushroom Ramen. You can find more recipes HERE.

If you’re interested in trying Blue Apron, the first 50 Pink Pistachio readers to sign-up HERE will receive 2 FREE meals! Happy cooking!

This post is brought to you by Blue Apron.

Oh! That meal looks soooo good! But that kitchen looks dreamy! It needs a post all by itself! Hope the kids feel better soon!
