Born in the USA

July 1, 2014

It’s true, berry flag cakes are adorable. But did you know chocolate chip cookies are all American? Born in the USA, these scrumptious little treats were invented by the owner of the Toll House Inn (oh, that explains the name!) And there you have it — a little US history that you may or may not have wanted to know.

Regardless, ordering 4th of July cookies is how we’re choosing to celebrate this year!

PDF Recipe: Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice-Cream Sandwiches

The trick to making the perfect cookie ice-cream sandwich is making sure they’re slightly undercooked, so when frozen, the cookies remain soft.

Oh and simple is better — that means no nuts, oats, or last year’s Halloween candy. It may be tempting, but simple soft cookies are the best bet here. Trust me on this one.

Happy Birthday, Lady Liberty!

These are perfect! You may already know the trick I’m about to tell since your cookies look so perfect as does the ice cream but I read somewhere if you get the smaller pints of ice cream, and let them stand for a bit out of the freezer and then slice the container with a sharp knife, you will get uniform slices of ice cream AND it’s the perfect circumference to fit on a cookie. This is making my Breyer’s Vanilla craving even stronger! ox Thanks for the undercooked tip!
