Check This Off the To-Do List

April 25, 2012

I’m a list person. Correction. I’m a list person WHEN pregnant. All other times I carry the list around in my head. Have never been one for keeping life scheduled in a planner, phone, or what have you. Somehow for 20 plus years, I’ve managed to remember it all. Weird. I know.

But lately, lists are the only way I can sleep at night. It’s kind of excessively normal, really.

Like, the list for meal ideas for next week (and for the next 3 months). For all I know, having another baby could spiral into a vicious cereal cycle for every meal. Just the thought of soggy cheerios makes me hyperventilate.

And the list for the sitter who’s watching Gage (which reminds me, I STILL haven’t put together his 24 hour basket of meals and snacks. add that to the list… and bunny crackers. Ah!)

Oh and mustn’t forget the list for LuLu’s rules: what she should/shouldn’t be doing while I’m away (you see, last go around the lil’ stinker wound up at the doctor. twice.)

Then there’s the never-ending honey-do lists, that should be called honey-don’t’s, because lets be honest, why do doorknobs need polishing, anyway?

He’s a saint.

Sorry Babe.

And obviously there’s a looooong list for you people. Yeah, the posts I want to write. The ones I want to save. And then the ones I’m biting my nails over because I have to wait until September to share. Yes, you heard right. A list for September actually exists.

(sigh)

Thank you for that.

For listening to my ramblings.

Makes me feel like I’ve got this whole thing under control. Or at least written down so everything stays contained…

Or something like that.

Seriously though?

The only thing on today’s list…

#1 – stop worrying & take a nap

lol you made me laugh. I am just like that in the list department. Especially since having my second babe. The other day I went through the effort of writing the “to get” list left the house and left it on the kitchen table. Came back to get it, went to the store and realized I had left it in the car. At which point I just gave up on the list! I think mostly I just need to get it out of my head and onto paper so my head can move onto other things!

    • missy April 27, 2012 at 11:19 am

My thoughts precisely… but sometimes the blasted lists are the stress inducers in the first place! Gah! love/hate relationship, no?

  • Michelle April 25, 2012 at 11:46 am

You look great! Are those the taupe or blush pumps? I’ve been eyeing them up for a couple weeks 🙂 Thanks

    • missy April 27, 2012 at 11:12 am

They’re the taupe… but blush sounds kind of amazing too!

  • Steffany April 25, 2012 at 2:09 pm

You crack me up! Can we please see the nursery???

    • missy April 27, 2012 at 11:12 am

Good call! I’ll see if I can remember to snap a few pictures this week and post next week. 😉

  • Stefanie April 25, 2012 at 2:18 pm

You look wonderful! I agree, take a nap first, and then worry about your lists! 😉

    • missy April 27, 2012 at 11:20 am

YES! Now I can justify it because you gave me permission. Thank you for that! ha!

  • Anna @ The Guiltless Life April 25, 2012 at 2:32 pm

Haha I’m a bit of a list person too. It calms me down to have everything written down – and I’m one of those people that always includes something I’ve already done on there to make me feel better haha.

Love the shoes, you’re in heels still! There’s some amazing fashion dedication 🙂

    • missy April 27, 2012 at 11:21 am

I hear you, write down completed tasks to make you feel like an over-achiever. done it. ha!

  • brooke t April 25, 2012 at 2:44 pm

how do you fit in A&F jeans still?!

    • missy April 27, 2012 at 11:14 am

A stretchy hair elastic looped through the button hole to expand the waist. Oh yeah and not to mention to the jeans are super stretchy too!

  • Marina April 25, 2012 at 3:03 pm

Oh my…I do the same thing! I have a list for everything!!! I even make lists a week in advance prior to travel for packing, broken out between husby, myself, baby and general…LOL. This is the ONLY way I can get any sleep at night knowing I have a list.

    Love the outfit!

    • missy April 27, 2012 at 11:22 am

Oh don’t even get me started on packing… sometimes i even take pictures to accompany the list (just so i remember what outfits i put together). can you say ocd?

  • Melissa Clift April 25, 2012 at 3:10 pm

LOVE this post! I’m totally a list person, to extremes actually. I’m a little afraid of the whole ‘baby brain’ thing, think i might be totally useless. My poor husband.

    • missy April 27, 2012 at 11:22 am

haha! poor husbands. but then again, where would they be without us, really.

  • Cindy Chiapusio April 25, 2012 at 4:05 pm

LOL….I had the same thought as Brooke….really Missy? Fullllllll prego and you are still wearing A & F jeans? Thats just wrong! I eat one too many cuppies and cant fit in mine! LOLOL….

    • missy April 27, 2012 at 11:23 am

you got the FULLLL part right. ha! super stretchy, my friend. SUPER stretchy.

  • Colleen Sullivan April 25, 2012 at 5:27 pm

You’re such an adorable pregnant lady! I definitely didn’t look so stylish when I was pregnant!

    Best,
    Colleen @ Meet the Sullivans

    • missy April 27, 2012 at 11:23 am

      You’re so sweet. Thanks, Colleen

  • Rachel {polkadots and puppies} April 25, 2012 at 6:36 pm

You look positively stunning, my friend 🙂 I hear ya on the list and the preggo stressors. {HUGS} are in order here. And remember, with deep breaths and chocolate, it will all be okay 😉
    -Love and sparkles

    • missy April 27, 2012 at 11:23 am

I am a total list-y. I live off of large index cards, lines to write on and they fit in my purse. My problem comes when I start crossing things off I need a new clean list. Hahaha.

Two questions I am dying to know: what state do you live in that you are taking all these beautiful shots with bright green grass? And second, do you have a second engagement/wedding ring? I gawk over your solitaire yellow gold but this one looks white?

    Btw, you lOok AMAZING!

    • missy April 27, 2012 at 11:16 am

The white gold set is my actual wedding/engagement ring. I wear the yellow gold solitaire with gold accessories (isn’t a real diamond but bought it to wear on our trip to italy/greece this past fall).

  • Rebecca Grace April 26, 2012 at 8:46 pm

I tried on that EXACT SAME TOP at Nordstrom Rack yesterday! Let’s just say it looks WAY better on Pregnant You than it does on UNPregnant Me…

Hang in there. Everything that NEEDS to get done will get done before the baby comes, and the stuff that isn’t done isn’t going to matter, anyway. You’ll be great. And just so you know, if you post a glamorous fashion photo shoot of you looking amazing while you’re in labor, I will have to stop being friends with you! 😉

    • missy April 27, 2012 at 11:17 am

      Rebecca, you kill me! haha!

Don’t plan on any glamour during labor. The only reason my hair was clean & makeup was on for the first was because I was induced.

I have a feeling this one is going to take me by surprise on day #5 of not washing my hair or something equally horrific! haha!

  • Paula Rizzo (@ListProducer) April 27, 2012 at 12:55 am

I got a chuckle out of your post! 🙂 Lists are amazing tools! I can’t get through a day without them. Being able to get something out of your head and down on paper is a huge stress reliever!

    Congrats on your new addition.

    • missy April 27, 2012 at 11:24 am

Thank you, Paula! Good to hear from you!

  • Maggie April 27, 2012 at 1:10 am

I really hope you got a nap in, on my day off next week bubba and I have a date and you have a nap appointment. Because I said so 🙂

    • missy April 27, 2012 at 11:18 am

Oooh! Yes please! 😉 But not before we eat another round of cranberry orange french toast!

  • Courtney April 27, 2012 at 2:57 am

I totally keep a list in my head as well, I honestly don’t know how I get it all done but I do. Even if that means it gets done a little later than I would like to admit.

We are so similar I would making list’s like crazy if I were you right now. I mean I even made lists for my bridesmaids where to be and when to be there, what to get, where to go. It was nuts. But it made me feel better.

  • emily April 28, 2012 at 9:24 pm

I want to see the nursery, too!

  • Kellee April 29, 2012 at 3:17 am

I have those pumps in black and L.O.V.E them! You are going to rock at being a mother of two. It’s easier then you think ;).
