Caviar Nails

June 4, 2012

Would you rather eat or wear fish eggs? Either way the result is supposed to make you feel posh and/or pretty.

Apparently these textured “caviar” nails hit british runaways and now mainstream Sephora is selling a DIY at home kit for all the rest of us. Um hi. But for $25? H-to-the-eck NO! At that price, I’d rather eat the raw baby nemo eggs.

Ew gross, maybe not.

The point is, I was able to replicate the same look for less.

And the other point? Saving money on beads makes justifying buying more polish overly easy. Love that (Yes, I play these little games with myself when it comes to buying cute things that I want… a’hem need).

I might add, this is only a look that will last for a day, or night, maybe two at most. I suppose if I tried it using my gel polish it could last longer. Might have to give that a go…

Beads- Michael’s Craft Store (scrapbooking section – comes in a pack of 8 different colors) $4
Polish – Orly’s Luxe (sally’s or ulta) $6

Super haute couture! I’m impressed – I hadn’t seen or heard of these but the effect is pretty cool. I know it’s a while off, but these would ROCK on NY Eve!

Does it feel bumpy? The way I am with my hands, I think they would all fall off by the end of the day. How long did it last? I’ve tried the same technique with glitter and that stayed on well for about a week. Love the color!

These are super popular in Utah too. They do them with the gel on top so it’s a flat finish on the top. they’re super cute and are done with glitter also!!

This is a great idea! I tried the Sephora caviar manicure, and though it was really cute, it only lasted for about one day. If that. Even if that’s the case with nail polish and beads, I will have spent a heck of a lot less on the manicure!
