Behold, My Hair’s Besties

May 20, 2011

M’ladies? You asked. I listened. And partially because hair is kinda a big dill in my book. Like, it’s slightly embarrassing how special hair is to me. If asked the question… Which would you rather have – flawless makeup or hair? Hands down I’d say hair EVERY TIME! She’s kinda my lifeline.

So at this moment, I don’t want to bombard you with the whole motherload of haircare.

If I did, you might never want to read another beauty post EVER AGAIN! And lets be honest… that’d be tragic. For us BOTH!

Not to worry, friendlies. The dry shampoo regimen… How to train your locks to stay clean for almost a week {don’t EVEN turn up your nose. you can still wash your bod}… and more on styling will be coming your way. And I mean SOONER than LATER. It’s quite mean to keep all of this 411 to myself. But all in due time, my pretties.

You’re so cute! Haha… Yes, the dry shampoo will be your new found love! I keep her close at all times.

  • ashley May 20, 2011 at 4:33 pm

Chelsey and Michelle showed me your site. SUPER cute stuff. Michelle said you are trying to get out there so I’ll share the love. Although I was tempted to keep it to myself:) Good luck.

Dry shampoo is a blessing in a can! Could bear my testimony about it – it’s that wonderful. Go getcha some at Sally’s. You’ll be a changed mommy!! Let me know how you like it! 🙂

Thanks for sharing. I love when others achieve that piece-y look at the ends of their hair; mine is always frizzing up and dry-ish. But I’ve never been able to find a product that works (to be fair, I haven’t really looked too much and I’m not willing or able to spend much on hair product). I think I’ll definitely spring for the Bumble and Bumble surf spray though – I’ve heard great things. Does the Moroccan oil help with that piece-y type look?

    • missy May 23, 2011 at 12:42 pm

Mary, I use the moroccan oil to help nourish my ends & keep them hydrated & smooth. I apply it wet for that reason. However, if you apply it once dried… it does help create some definition/piece-y look you’re talking about. Be careful though bc too much will make your hair greasy. For more what you’re talking about… to achieve defined textured pieces I’d recommend a pomade or hair wax. It’ll create definition that holds.

Where do you find the Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray? I saw it in a magazine last year and have been looking all over for it. I love the soft waves look.

    • missy May 23, 2011 at 12:36 pm

Britt! You can order it directly from Bumble & Bumble. If you click the link listed in the post it’ll take you right to the ordering page. Or many salons carry it as well. You just have to call and check! I really like it for added volume at my roots. It’s also great for achieving the “messy” beach waves.

Thanks for sharing this- you have perfect hair! I’ll be looking forward to your future posts about this because I am a lost cause when it comes to styling my hair! It’s always so frizzy and dry and most days I contemplate shaving my head bald.

Hi, just found your blog and love it! Just wondering if you have any good recommendations on a good product to tame frizz. Not sure if you have to deal with that at all but I’ve been looking for a good product. And also what does the surf spray and morroccan oil do for your hair?

  • Ashley June 26, 2012 at 3:47 am

Do you use the Morroccan oil on dry hair? How much do you use? This looks like a life saver for long hair.

  • Donna July 11, 2012 at 5:01 pm

Have you tried Aquage Lifting Foam? (kinda sounds like something from Willy Wonka!) Wondered what you thought of that product…also, what kind of flat iron do you use? The GHD ones are soooo expensive. Love your blog and thank you so much for all your tips and tricks!!!

Hey! I love your hair advice! I have such lifeless hair usually and I used your hair techniques and viola! Beautimuss!! But I cant find the exact XXL Thickening mousse you have here. Have they renamed it?

  • Allison July 25, 2012 at 4:25 pm

Hi I found you on Pinterest and I love your blog! We seem to have similar tastes and styles! Could you possibly do a tutorial on the B&B Surf Spray? I bought it a while ago and I still have no idea how to use it!

  • Brooke Jaromin October 9, 2012 at 12:56 am

Do you use Scalp Benefits because you have scalp “issues” or just because you like what it does for your hair/scalp?

    • missy March 3, 2013 at 2:55 pm

I just like what it does for my hair 🙂

  • Kay February 13, 2013 at 3:04 pm

I just found your site. You have beautiful hair. Do you still use these products or have you tried some new products since then? What about shampoo and conditioner?

  • Beth April 1, 2013 at 8:46 pm

Any tips on what to do with clean hair if you go to sleep on it clean and wet and want to use styling products the next morning? I don’t know what styling products to use on dry hair.

  • Courtney R October 9, 2013 at 5:27 pm

Do you use the bumble spray and the mouse when curling your hair with your Jose wand??

    • missy October 10, 2013 at 2:58 am

I like to use the bumble spray before blow or air drying, follow up with the wand (no mousse), and finish with hairspray. 🙂
