Beauty is Skin Deep

June 14, 2011

In answer to, “What’s your skincare regimen?” I’d say, “It’s kinda complicated.” There’s some products I’ve used in the past & new ones I’m just starting to implement. So I decided to break it down for ya, from most affordable to splurge.

Awww, friendlies, you’re so very welcome! Thanks for all those warm fuzzies you just sent my way! xo

1. Loreal’s go 360 Clean – this lil’ baby is genius, I tell you! not only is it affordable, has microbead exfoliators, but also comes with a soft scrublet (that’s reuseable) applicator to use as you wash! The whole kit n’kaboodle makes washing your face, fun! And the lil’ scrublet? Def my favorite part bc it makes me feel like I’m my own esthetician.

2. Niora Alpha Clear Duo – I swear by this stuff. I first started using it in high school, continued using it through college & still use it. It’s THAT good. It’s not like most products where your body gets “used to” it and you have to switch it up. I think it’s in part because all the ingredients are 100% pure. Don’t be fooled that it’s only for faces that struggle with breakouts. It’s an all around universal product, even for the most sensitive skin. Can you tell I’m in love, much?

3. Aveda’s Tourmaline Charged Radiance Masque – hands down the best masque my face has ever been pampered by. The proof is in the glow. I recommend using once a week. You’ll be a fan.

4. Spectrum’s Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil – oh mercy! If the health benefits aren’t reason enough to use this… the smell makes me want to lick my own face! I use this stuff as an all over body moisturizer as well. It’s affordable too bc a little definitely goes a long way! I have extremely dry skin & this stuff works miracles. Don’t believe me? Husby will be willing to go under oathe.

5. bareMinerals *NEW* skincare line – Guilty as charged… I fell prey to QVC. But I couldn’t help it – I’ve been a bareMinerals makeup junky since before it was sold in stores. I’m talking my mom, sister, and I ordered it off TV. And yes, we were hooked. So when I heard they were coming out with a skincare line, I just HAD to try it! I’ve been using it for a few months now & haven’t had one complaint. Like all their products, they’re natural & make my skin feel extra loved. I use the Purifying Cleanser, Purely Nourishing Daily Moisturizer, & the Luminous Extra Firming Neck Cream (on my face too @ night), you can use this Ulta Coupon $10 Off $40 to get a discount online if you plan on getting them.

Can’t wait to try one or all of the above products?

Here’s a lil’ DIY saving grace for your face!

Thanks so much for this! I need to try some new things because my face is breaking out like crazy.

    • missy June 15, 2011 at 2:58 pm

Sometimes less is more. I know that sounds crazy! I’d recommend the Niora products I listed. They are VERY mild but have an amazing effect on acne prone skin! Good luck, Lovie!

i want to try that loreal stuff! my skin is super dry so i don’t usually mess with it too much or change my little routines but i love the whole idea of the 360 clean!

    • missy June 15, 2011 at 2:57 pm

Talk about dry! I actually have a skin condition that’s the epitome of dry! You’ll LOVE the coconut oil. I highly recommend it. Get scrub happy with your lil’ scrublet! 🙂

These all sound fantastic! although I’m curious… because you listed a few different cleansers and moisturizers, but I’m assuming you don’t use them all everyday, right? Do you use certain ones in the morning or at night or less than daily?
    Thanks 🙂

    • missy June 15, 2011 at 2:55 pm

Haha! Uh I probably could have been a bit more clear, right? Sorry about that! I use the coconut oil most often (day/night). But I also use the firming cream from bareMinerals at least 4x per week. When I use the firming I don’t use the coconut oil. Let me know if you decide to try any of them! I’d love to know if you feel the same way! xo

    • missy June 20, 2011 at 2:26 pm

I’m so excited for you! Give it a few weeks. You’ll notice the difference!

  • Ginny June 28, 2011 at 6:16 pm

Do you use the Niora every day to prevent breakouts? Your skin looks amazing!! And what about the Aveda mask- I know you said a glow anything else you like about it?

    • missy June 28, 2011 at 6:42 pm

I’ve recently switch to bareMinerals skincare line. But yes, I used Niora every day. It’s HEAVENLY! You’ll love it & so will your skin. Now on to the mask. It’s almost like a mini facial in a tube. It exfoliates dead skin, shrinks pores, restores moisture, and leaves a lovely glow. Putting on makeup the morning after is like a clean smooth canvas to work with. Swoon. 🙂

Thanks for the tips! I rarely breakout but would love to have something that I use constantly that would prevent me from ever breaking out! By the way I love your blog, and we live in the same town!! I recognize all the landmarks!! Haha!!

  • Amy July 22, 2011 at 3:42 pm

Where do you get all of these? From the websites that you linked? Is there a store that carries some of these?

    • missy July 22, 2011 at 5:15 pm

bareMinerals skincare line you can get from one of their stores or online. Niora can be found in some natural food stores like Whole Foods and online. And the 360 clean can be found at Target, Walmart, or any drug store.

Finally took your advice and ordered the Niora for my face. Pregnancy is doing crazy things to my skin! I also ordered the Spectrum Coconut Oil, and I don’t know if I am going to be able to resist from grabbing a spoon and eating the whole jar!!! It smells sooooo good!!!!!

do u still use all of these face washes and exfoliators and lotions or have u switched ?

  • Stephanie June 23, 2012 at 1:28 pm

I am SO excited that I found this blog! It is truly amazing. After reading all of your reviews on your face products, I decided to give Niora a try because I’ve literally tried EVERYTHING out there. and I must say that it feels and is amazing! Thank you so much! 🙂

Hi! So I was so glad when I stumbled upon this post, considering that my face is falling apart right now. I never breakout and its all coming now! Argh.

Anyways, I was curious about the niora products. Are they only good on adults? I’m in High School and I can’t find a cheap product thats worth it.
    Thank you!

    • missy July 23, 2012 at 1:14 am

I started using Niora when I was in high school! And unlike most products, it hasn’t stopped working. Do you know what I mean? Sometimes, your body almost gets tried of the same ‘ole thing and needs something new in order for it to produce good results. Niora never looses its effectiveness. 😉 All the best, cutie.

  • Jill stansbury September 1, 2012 at 5:44 pm

Just purchased coconut oil. You use it like lotion? Nervous to put this on my face! 🙂

    • missy September 1, 2012 at 8:49 pm

Yes, you’ll LOVE it. But be cautious… a little goes a long way. Just because it has “oil” in the name doesn’t mean it’ll clog pores. Check out the masque and lip scrub I made up using coconut oil too!

  • Sarah September 10, 2012 at 12:30 am

This may be a really silly question, but I ordered the Niora Alph Clear Duo. Which do I use first the Cleanser or the Exfoliant? Thanks! Love your blog by the way. You are too cute!!

  • Nikki October 25, 2012 at 7:29 pm

Question! Before you switched to the Bare Minerals Skin Care Line did you use both the L’Oreal Go Clean cleanser AND the Niora Clear Cleanser daily? I was confused by that. How is the Bare Minerals line treating ya? Do you prefer that over the others mentioned? Thanks so much for your posts! I LoVe your blog!
    Smooches xx
