July 5, 2013

                                                 See my explanation HERE.

Psst! I mentioned on Facebook that I’m now a Babble beauty contributor. Don’t worry, it won’t replace beauty posts/tutorials I usually write. Just another little dose of beauty in case you want to follow along. As always, thank you for holding my hand through new endeavors!

    This is just great 🙂
I’ve also read and am using right now pure coconut oil, the truth is that nowadays I’m not even using shaving cream anymora 😀

Very excited to see MORE of one of my favorite bloggers 🙂 Did I mention I live for your beauty tutorials?? Hair wands, false eyelashes, MUFE eye crayons, going 5 days between shampoos…you have not steered me wrong yet! Anyway, will definitely try the olive oil thing. I use olive oil based skin care products and my skin has never looked better…but I never thought to try olive oil for shaving. Brilliant idea, as usual!

As a medical student studying dermatology, I would like to add that there have been studies done showing olive oil actually significantly damages the skin barrier (reduction in integrity of stratum corneum) and should NOT be used as a topical skin treatment. It was compared to sunflower seed oil, which did not have these effects.
Please see “Effect of Olive and Sunflower Seed Oil on the Adult Skin Barrier: Implications for Neonatal Skin Care” published in Pediatric Dermatology Volume 30 Issue 1:42-50, Jan/Feb 2013 if you are able to access medical journals.

This is the first time I hear about shaving with coconut oil and I think it is not so good for your razor… :/
