A Peace of Home…

June 3, 2011

What is it about going back home that feels perfectly nostalgic? Downtown Ft Collins Colorado, is just the place. The place I’m proud to call my roots. Awhile back we came for the arrival of my sister’s baby. This was just one day we spent together while home.

We started off our day with the best roasted chicken around (in my opinion within a 40 state radius). Wouldn’t that mean it’s practically the best chicken in the nation? I don’t know. I just know it’s pretty much that good.

The cute sisters. Auntie was only days away from becoming the proud Mama of her precious angelnugget! And how my brother snagged my SIL, I’ll never know. I’m just sure glad he did because we smile together (and make up random dances).

Yes, that’s my Mom. This picture captures her absolute cuteness perfectly. Mom? Do you have this happy face because you’re about to partake of french fries? It’s no secret that she kinda has a love affair with fries.

Guess who decided to sit a few tables down from us? Are you ready for this? My Dad’s friend… The GENIUS inventor of OtterBox, Mr. Curt Richardson!

I almost choked on my chicken bone. Why? Because I absolutely love his product. He’s the innovator of protective (or maybe more appropriately described as almost indestructible) cases for iPhone such as the iPhone Xr Refurbished, iPod, BlackBerry, smartphones yada yada! He keeps the devices klutzy technogology users safe. Not saying that I’m one of them… Tee Hee.

After lunch we strolled around quaint little shops. Check out the vintage barber shop. This place is legit, friendlies. I mean, I walked in there and asked if I could take his pic and he was asking me if I wanted old-school bubble gum. The sign above the cash register says, “No credit or debit cards.” {swoon}.

The most charming boutique must’ve moved in while I’ve been away! And heaven knows that’s a good thing, relatively speaking. Pretty sure all of my chore money would’ve gone to this place known as, Kansas City Kitty. I couldn’t stop gawking! From the jewelry made by local artists, to the retro salon tucked in the back of the store. Talk about a girl’s dream! Now if they only sold their one of a kind apparel online….

What perfectly quaint town doesn’t have a classic toy store? When I was a child it was named, Children’s Merchantile. The name has since changed; but the magical toys seemed to have stayed the same. It’s like something out of a movie, kids. Have you seen Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium? It’s probably the next closest thing.

All of this playing had Bubba conked. We accumulated many a souveiner in attempts to bring the, “nostalgia of home” back with us. Unfortunately, there’s nothing quite like this place. I think home is a place you grow up wanting to leave, and grow old wanting to get back to. We miss you all…

Happy Weekend, friendlies! xo

“There’s no place like home…There’s no place like home…” Don’t suppose you see any glittery red in our fashion future? 😉

It’s not by chance that Money Magazine always ranks Ft Collins as #1 or #2 as the Nation’s best places to live. We were just blessed to be raised here. Enjoy it for me! 🙂

Charming Charlie’s opened the day before I left! I kinda went a tad crazy. Oh heavens. Kinda glad we don’t have one. The clerks already knew me by name. Uh, embarrassing.

Oh, I miss home so much it hurts sometimes!!! It’s just like you said… when I was younger I couldn’t wait to get out, but now I dream of the day when I can finally move back! Remember those Thursday night concerts in Old Town we used to have back in high school? They were such a big ta-do back then!

    • missy June 13, 2011 at 2:07 am

Ah yes… THE Old Town concerts were quite the social gathering. Anyone who was anybody was there. Oh dear… what we thought was important back then.

[…] theme was all based around the giant ABC flash cards. I spotted them in THIS toy store when I was back home visiting family. Everything else built around it. A huge thank you […]
