A Birth Story

It’s exactly one week from the night you were born. Right now, you’re sound asleep all snuggly and warm cuddled up on my lap as I write you this special little story.

It was May 15th, 2012 at exactly 7:03 pm that time seemed to stand still. You came and welcomed us with a scared little cry. Daddy said, “Hey Little Buddy!” with the most excitement a new Daddy could have. Those three little words is all it took for you to remember you were loved. Your cry stopped and your special doctor wished you a very happy birthday.

It’ll be a day I’ll always cherish.

You were a little nervous about coming to this new place, just like your older brother. Both of you were induced (more or less nudged along by medicine).

Daddy says it’s because you both love me too much to want to leave.

At 11:00am we headed to the hospital. When we arrived at the hospital we filled out lots of paperwork. The only part that was incomplete was the name on your birth certificate. It had yet to be decided. We wanted to meet you first before choosing the perfect name.

At 1:00pm we checked into your room and got situated. Daddy and I could hardly believe we were about to meet you!

I tried to nap while Daddy looked at sports and politics.

A few hours passed and then things started to hurt.

The hurt was almost too much to bear.

You see, Mommy had every intention of making the hurt go away with some medicine but the medicine doctor was busy helping another mommy who was in more pain.

Time passed and you weren’t going to wait much longer.

The medicine doctor finally came at 6:45pm. but it didn’t make the pain go away.

I was really scared. really really scared.

But you know what? I was brave knowing you’d soon be in my arms.

At 7:03pm you were.

I’ll never forget only moments after your birth, you reached for my finger and held on tight. I felt like you were thanking me for enduring the pain.

In that moment my heart learned to love all over again.

To love you, my little baby Beckam.

This is such a sweet letter. I am literally sitting here trying to type this through blurry, watery eyes. I don’t know you personally but I can tell that you and your husband love your children so much. Keep being an awesome momma and an awesome example to everyone who comes across your blog or meets you in life. Thank you for bringing me back to the day my little cupcake was born. It truly is the closest heavenly experience that we encounter in this life right as our baby is being born into the world. Just as we think that we can’t go through any more pain or push one more time that’s when Heavenly Father gives us strength to go through just one more second and push one more time so we can bring our sweet little ones into the world. Thank you again for letting me be able to remember my experience with my little mini. Sending prayers to you and your super cute family 🙂

Okkkkkkkkkk I’m balling! Beautiful story…and almost identical experience I had giving birth to my first child…uh, yeah, 25 years ago! No meds, lots of scary-pain but that surreal mommy power of knowing this baby bump was about to be a real live little person….and I got to be the one to deliver him to this wonderful thing we call life! We didn’t know what we were having, and didn’t name him til we had time to meet him! Thank you for reminding me of that moment……..and sharing yours! Bless all of you babe! xoxo

Aw I feel like I know you as you’ve shared so much with us, and in a good way. I am honoured you trust us enough to put this out there – such a great birth story, and you’re so brave being induced both times! My mom was induced once and said it definitely hurt more than the other births, so you are one tough cookie my dear! Beckam really is beautiful!
